A miniSilicon

Ok the silicon is pretty small, but i would love if they could make a Silicon in a DVX form factor.

Solid lense with 13X - 20X
XLR inputs
2 2,5 inch harddrives slots with the possibilty to dual recording for security
2/3 CMOS

CineForm with the possibilty
1920*1080 - 24P 25P 30P
1920*810 - 24P 25P 30P 40P
1440*810 - 24P 25P 30P 48P 50P 53P
1440*608 - 24P 25P 30P 48P 50P 60P 71P

1280*720 - 24P 25P 30P 50P 60P 67P

Were the Cinemascope format is the thing i most want.

Also
2560*1080 24P would be a dream.

Does it help if I say please?

I like the hard drive idea, but not the solid lense. Its funny you say a MiniSilicon because if you added all they it would infact be larger.

Yes the silicon is small but thats because you dont have the recording device on it on most of the pictures.

I was refering if they used a solid lense they maybe could push it more compact.

Yes but thats what the real silicon is for.

Remmeber this site is DVXuser for guys were size does matter. ;)

BTW, we've been playing around with different lenses, and glass DOES make a big difference in sharpness, etc. So a cheaper fixed lens will affect performance . . . we've found that the small c-mount lenses from Fujinon are a good compromise, but they don't compare in any manner to a nice Arri Ultra Prime.

Also the Mini can be hand-held. I'm not sure if you've been over to David Newman's blog on cineform.blogspot.com, but you can see they had a small "hand-held" rig for holding the mini. The rig can also hold you matte box and a follow focus unit, and fits nicely on a tripod. It also has a battery mount. The only thing it doesn't have is on-board recording, you have to tether the mini to a laptop or computer somewhere (laptops need Merom or Yonah processors for 1080/24P). The "full" body design will have on-board recording.

The problem with doing something as small as the DVX is that we need a motherboard that is fast and small enough . . . there's nothing on the market as far as I've seen. So the smallest size we can practically get with the current motherboards is the pro-Sony/Pansonic size. And a fixed zoom lens for a 2/3" CMOS is going to be quite large.

Hey just an idea! I love the form factor of the silicon. I would be backpacking around the wilderness anyway but instead of a big camera it would be a little camera and a laptop.

Yea Small Silicon is my dream too (for long time), but size of recording unit is a problem.
But exchangeable lenses is a must!
Lens create picture, chip can only capture what it get from lens.
When it get s**t it produce s**t so good lens is a key.

Why? Tablet PC is the key word.

And as Jason said, you have the cheapest option also.
