and I'm not sure if it supports my graphics card. Well, I'm pretty sure, but maybe you can help confirm. I have a power mac g5 with an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro graphics card.

These are the specs:

these are the specs on the requirements.

What do you think? Is it a go? I just don't want to order it and not have it compatible.

If you have this monitor, do you like it? I'm upgrading from a 17inch studio display. I deserve it, right? I edit at least 3 days a week.

well, good question. Won't I get connectors with the monitor? And how do you know it will work? because it supports the 2405FPW 1920x1200 widescreen resolutions

thanks! so did it come with connectors/cables? I should really do this, like today, huh?

It comes with a DVI cable and a VGA cable. I use the DVI to DVI for my G5 and the VGA for my g4 powerbook. You may need to get an adapter if you're planning on doing dual screen setup but their easy to find and only run about $20.00 or so. You'll be very happy with this monitor when editing in FCP. There's lots of real estate to work with!

Oh JOY! I got this today and it is a beauty.

just FYI, they DECREASED THE PRICE by $40 since I bought it last week.

does anyone know what the rectangular button on the back of the "neck" is for?

Just wanted to know how the monitor is treating you - I'm looking to upgrade and currently run two 15" LCD monitors on a Matrox card(PC). Getting tired of the edges of the monitors creating a split down the middle of the desktop. Would you be able to measure the dimensions(height x width) of the LCD screen excluding the monitor frame for me? Just want to compare screen size to what I'm using.

Thanks
Mike

The monitor is one of the prettiest things I own. Straight out of the box it has been great and well worth the wait.

I was under the impression that you could adjust the "neck" up and down, but I haven't figured that out, or you just can't. I'm going to buy a monitor stand to raise it higher. I don't know what munchkins they think will use these things..

dimensions? I haven't been able to find my ruler for a few days. do they have the specs on the website?

hmm. I don't know why I didn't get email notification on this. anyways, glad I caught it. oh, i see why, now.

HTH.

Joy, o joy! Glad to hear that yours is a beauty. - as for the dimensions I figure that it will be larger than what I already use. What rez are you using it at? I've read that it does raise up 4 inches and that it pivots to portrait mode(not a feature that I'm interested in but its got to be raised to make clearance for the portrait mode)

How is the display with video? Are you previewing video on this monitor or are you using an external broadcast monitor? I heard it isn't the greatest for watching video/dvds no matter what input your using.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm using it at 1900 x 1200. Does that sound right? I just plugged it in and my computer pretty much figured it all out.

HOW CAN I ADJUST THE HEIGHT OF THE NECK? ANYONE KNOW? I'm about to buy a monitor stand this morning if I can' t do it. I didn't do anything to calibrate, et.c

i use this monitor AND external broadcast monitor to preview. the dell and the b-cast monitor are very, very close.

Alexa,
There's a button on the back of the neck, I think it's at the bottom that push and this will allow you to adjust the monitor. It should have come with instuctions in the box. Good luck!

Hmm,
Just noticed they changed the base (must be a new model), I got mine in Feb. and it's adjustable. Sorry 'bout that...

thanks for noticing that and following up. after you posted, I hit the button to buy my monitor stand ( & a few other goodies I might show when if it is worth it.)

I'm pretty sure it does not raise up..and even if it did, it would leave it a little less secure. as it is, my printer nearby can make it rock.

If you have a button on the back of the stand, then push it in as you push the top of the monitor downward to unlock the mechanism. The monitors we have at work are like that. Some you really have to push down hard before you hear that click, then it should just raise straight up.

GREAT.

Hi All, I have just bought the Dell LCD in subject. My question is...

Does anyone know what is the minimum video card requirement in order to have the display at MAX resolution?

I have an "old" pc with a GeForce MX400 PCI, and I don't know it will support that resolution.

I'm planning on buying a kickass pc soon, but I'm just waiting to have the correct amount of money first... although money starts to burn my hand... hehe

Thank YOu!

this is what I got. perfect., well, I tiny bit more elevation woul be better, but this is at the eye-comfort level for me.

I'm kind of tall, so if you are, too, you might need one a way to raise the monitor. I have not adjusted the neck on this thing because as it is, when the printer nearby prints, the monitor sort of shakes, too.

Monoco I don't think an MX400 will support max resolution, but if you look on the dell site you will see a list of supported video cards. See Alexa's first post.

Alexa you must be loving all that "real estate" to work with. 17" to a 24" widescreen is a big jump. A big, happy, glorious, jump.
