Citidisk HD on HVX-200 PAL

just finished signing up and new to thr forum and already need you guys help.

My Citidisk HD doesn't seems to start recording even when i press the record button manually from the Citidisk, it change to a solid red red and instead of start flickkering first and then go solid red.

I've already upload the latest firmware - still no luck

Is it possible to use the citidisk HD without and P2 cards which is the case with me?

There are so many settings - it might be that some of my settings are wrong.

I would much appreciated it if any one have some ideas, since i've being struggeling for the whole day now.


Current settings

Remote =VCR1
1394 control = ext
1394 cmd sel- Rec_p
pc mode=1394 device


Recording setup

Rec format 720p/25/pn
576i rec mode DVCPRO50
REC FUNCTION=NORMAL
TCG = REC RUN
TC PRESET-----
UB MODE=DATE


SCENE FILE F5: CINE V

OPERATION MODE= FIM CAM
FRAME ATE=25 FRAME
SYNCRO SCAN=180.OD
DETAIL LEVEL =+5


CAMERA IS IN CAMERA MODE

P2 MODE IS SELECTED.

Michael Schoenfeld here,

I know that you need to set your recording setting to "p" not "pn"

try that and see if that solves it.

Sorry, I'm not PAL but hopefully that will fly,

BTW, the "manual" ( am I use that term loosely) states in the FAQ to Always use a 720P 30 FCP timeline - for all 720 footage. Hope that helps too.

Still no luck - I start thinking if there might be something wrong with my Citidisk HD device.

I will sent and email to shining and see what they say.

I'm based in london and got it from ProCon Digital Systems.

If you guys might think about any other ideas please let me know because this device means nothing to me as it stands and realy would appreciate to get it working.

this is a quote from Louis..so i think hes got it from the states..!

How much i did you pay with shipping for tihis unit?

and in the "manual" it mentioned 720/25p or 1080/50i so therefore it should be ok.

I know its early stages but it is alot cheaper than the firestore if we can get it to work.

Including shipping cost around £830.00 pounds. Citidisk HD 120

I think its not to bad - everything in the UK is always to expensive and therefore buy most of my products from the states with out any hazzel if you know what i mean but i have to say there are also some good dealers here in LOndon depending what you after.

How are you getting on with this? Is it working yet?

I'm considering purchasing one of these, I had thought of getting a Firestore but it appears that there is loads of problems with it working with the HVX so I guess its much of a muchness.

Hopefully the Citidisc works out.

I'm based in London too :)

nope it doesn't work on PAL as yet.

I'm waiting for Richard to get back to me.

At the moment it means nothing to me...

Richard could you please update us as other guys are interested in your product too in the PAL world!!!

Is it that the 120Gb version doesn't work in PAL or are you saying all the versions don't work in PAL land?

Its crazy how these guys are so quite about this product when a lot of people are asking questions and no answers are forthcoming.

I'd really like to purchase this if it works but the Firestore is looking better everyday - and I hear that has loads of problems too, but at least the communication is flowing :)

Louis the price you quote is that with VAT and import duty? The way I work it out it should cost a lot less with out VAT and I don't think they charge import duty on HD drives.

The latest firmware revision (available later today, I'll make a thread for those who need to download it) for the CitiDISk HD is meant to cover both NTSC and PAL cameras. However, Shining hasnt had a PAL camera to test with yet. They'll be at IBC next week and will do their final PAL testing there. All customers that have purchased a CitiDISK HD for a PAL camera from me at ProCon or from any one of my dealers will automatically get an extension on their trial use period to account for the software delay. Anyone who has questions can feel free to call or email me.

Thats great news about IBC. Please could you tell me were I can meet up with the Shining team and have a look at the CitiDisk HD?

Will they have a stand?
Will they be selling the CitiDisk HD at IBC?
