Cingular vs. T-Mobile

Id go for this revolutionary thing called a home phone. JK.

I get my cell phone for 15.99 a month. Just have to negotiate with SunCom a little.

T-Mobile rocks. It really depends on where you live though, all of the carriers suck in some locations, and are fantastic in others.

That said, I switched from AT&T (now Cingular) and Jane switched from Verizon- and we're pretty happy.

I've had Cingular for a couple years now, and have only had maybe a couple dropped calls the whole time, and i can get better service than my friends with other providers. And it depends on how much you talk, but i've got a butt load of rollover minutes, too.

I guess it also depends where you live, and the coverage areas, though.

I too use cingular. Lots of dropped calls, and the damn thing does not work in my house, wifes either, yet it does with other services. UG!

You should first check what type of covergae is offered in your area for the various providers. Dropped calls/out-of-range stinks.

I don't think they are really ANY good cell providers. They all have their merits and they all suck in their own ways. I'd say pick out a phone that you really like and go with whatever company provides the service for it at the cheapest price.
Personally, I'm a Sidekick fan and have been with T-Mobile for awhile now. The Sidekick2 was cool and the Sidekick3, while a bit underwhelming, is a modestly cool upgrade.

I have T-Mobile. They are ok. The only company that I can get reception with in my apartment. Also, they can actually pull up your location and at least give you a rough idea of whether reception is available.

I've never used cingular, but I had an office job and was stuck negotiating a new cell plan for the company. We went with cingular but they were an absolute NIGHTMARE to deal with. Absolutely unbelievablely poor service. Worst I've ever seen - hands down. Now, we were having reps switch from different accounts over to cingular and their merger with AT&T seemed to be causing the problems. Their service might be fine for one individual starting a new account. But in the case of this situation, my very reserved boss was actually screaming and swearing with a cingular rep because they were so insanely incompetent.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile

I used to be a AT&T customer, they sold/switched over to Cingular. THEY BLEW!!! I wouldnt reccomend Verizon, they are not on a GSM network. T-Mobile has been my provider for about 3 months. No Complaints!

Just switched from Cingular to T-Mobile, I like it so far...T-Mobile has better plans where I'm at. I agree with HowDareMe, go with something that's GSM

Don't know about t-mobile, but Cingular sucks. I laugh everytime i see the Fewest Drop Calls commercials.

I also used to get this weird thing where I pick up a call and it sounds like a combination of a fax machine and a jet engine going off. I know others who had this same problem so it wasnt just me.

I'm a verizon convert now. EVDO rocks.

Sprint and Verizon are the same, aren't they?

Nextel & Sprint are now the same thing.

I have Verizon and after being with them for years they have excellent customer service (I learned this after dropping a phone in the toilet) as well as competitive pricing. The best way to get the best price with Verizon is to link your account with someone else. Furthermore, Verizon has a massive network so anytime I travel I get great reception.

Companies I have had problems with: Suncom, Cingular, & Alltel... but that is just from my experience.

No one realizes that once you are a customer, these people DO NOT want to lose you. They will do anything to keep you loyal. For example, if you have a cell phone, but use it only 50-60 minutes a month, mostly for emergencies, you shouldnt have to pay 50-60$ a month. So wrangle with them- my dad stayed on the phone for 2 hours, and got our cell phone bill down from 35$ a month to 16$ a month. They will stoop to your needs, no matter what.

well now i know that if i move, i'm definitly not gonna trust cingular's service to stay with me, based on your guys' problems.

and i agree with pto, haggle. i think most businesses would rather make a little less money than have you spend it on the competition.

I agree with pto2212 as well. When your talking to them, and if they deny giving you your wanted price, just say, "OK, Ill just go sign up for (competitor)'s plan. They will give me the price I want."

And BINGO- youve got yourself a good deal, no matter what. Its magic almost.
