Coolest male lead of all time.

Toshiro ( my number one)

I was waiting for someone to say Toshiro Mifune. Did you guys know that he was George Lucas's original choice for playing Obe Wan Kanobi?

Wow I didn't know that.

Would have put a whole different spin on the original trilogy.

For starters I could never believe a Mifune Obi-Wan would fall to Vader. He'd have single handedly destroyed the Empire.

Skywalkers and Solos be damned!

he would've found a way to trick the rebels and the empire into destroying each other and cash in.

I want somebody to give me some positive affirmation on this one.

Mickey Rourke
The Pope ofGreenwich Village.

This was young Mickey. Before his ego, the drugs and a drunken plastic surgeon got to him. Not the coolest of all time but for a couple of years there, he was the coolest male lead alive.

What are you smokin'? :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) Mickey Rourke has had good roles in: Angel Heart, Body Heat, The Pope of Greenwich Village and Diner...even a comeback roll in Once Upon a Time in Mexico. But he's a slimeball, not cool.

You're right, he's not cool, anymore. What I said, was that for a about a two-year period of time there, he was the coolest lead male alive. And I think that's a plausible claim. He was a smooth motherphukker there for a while. Somebody back me up. I know there's at least one old guy with taste on here. Oh, and I'm smoking the kind baby.

Charlie got got a shave, a haircut, a manicure, and then he went to his apartment. He donned his best suit, slipped on the pinkey ring and looked himself in the mirror. Then he walked straight into BedBug Eddie's office and told him to go PHuck himself. That's EFFING COOL. And for an actor to be able to pull that off, to show the confidence with an underlying fear and to grab The Bedbug's hand and tell him that now, "I'm the Pope of Greenwich Village! Because I got the tape!" Well that was the chit. And you can let Hollywood tell you that some Tom Cruise or Indiana Jones movie was better that year but it's BS. The Pope was a work of art and the biggest reason why is because Mickey played the lead. Perfectly shot, perfectly acted, and The Mick at his best......Now he's a Picasso but whatta you gonna do?

You forgot "Sin City", another recent one he did...

And for awhile he was set to star in Tarantino's DeathProof, but he dropped out for some reason.

Rourke is having a little comeback... thanks to Robert Rodriguez.

I like The Pope of Greenwich Village. I own a copy. But it wasn't in my top 10 movies of 1984.

Thanks Filmjunkie, I don't know HOW I forgot Sin City.

Redford - Spy Games
Reno - The Professional
Jim Morrison - Willow:)
Brian Blessed - Henry V
One hell of a good Brit actor in "Some Call it Courage" from WW2 that I cannot find anywhere.

I'm going with the Hud on this one but throwing Johny Depp in for fear and loathing....OH and Val Kilmer for Jim Morrison.

Nice one, Mino. I didn't think anyone on this site would even know who Hud was. Not as good as Cool Hand Luke but still a really good choice.

anyone, eh?
Well, when I say anyone referring to the classic, you are OBVIOUSLY excluded. You're kind of like the character in Buffet's "A Pirate Looks at 40." (born a few years too late)

EDIT: Anxiously awaiting 1963.

Callaghan, get ready to be happy....

Callaghan, get ready to be happy....

Went to see The Legend of RickyBobby yesterday and a preview came on that made me think of you. It's called "The Guardian" starring Kev Cost and Asht Kutch. It's like Top Gun of the Coast Guard. They jump out of helipcopters.

And when Kutche asks Kev how he decides who to save and who not to save, Kev looks into the sunset and says...."I swim as fast as I can for as long as I can and the Sea takes the rest of em'." It's The Postman meets The Perfect Storm with a dash of G.I. Jane minus the Jane.

If Ashton Kutcher could literally be digitally removed frame-by-frame outta every last shot that his no-talent arse is in...then yeah, The Guardian would most likely be a damned good flick.

Save for that unlikely chain of events though, I'll pass

Ohh i god i remember seeing this trailer a few weeks back and thinking:

huge waves and helicopters = okay i'm interested

Costner = Alright I'm sold. Tin Cup baby!

Kutcher = I want my money back...

Well, I know this site is huge on Kostner. No problem with that. It's the differences that make things interesting. But for me...Kostner AND Kutcher...how can you go right?
