James Newton Howard or John Williams?

well, theuy way it was described to me was that there is a lot of shipping cd's back and forth, or maybe just forth, until night is happy with it. but they dont actually go in and record it with a 64 piece orchestra until picture is locked.
Oh ok. That makes sense.

I sorta' pictured Howard handing Night a CD and saying, "Here's your movie. I'll be in Bora Bora, if you have any questions, but don't call before 3. Greta gets testy if I take calls during the coconut oil massage."

I guess they find the movie together.

James Newton Howard is fantastic, but you don't trade in a genius for anything less than another genius. Howard isn't, Williams (in my opinion) is close to being one in the movie soundtrack field.

Williams stuff bores me...

The Raiders March doesn't fill your with thrills and excitement?

The themes from Saving Private Ryan don't make you weep for the fallen soldiers?

The Star Wars Theme doesn't make you feel like a kid again?

The Jaws Theme doesn't fill you with dread?

I could keep going, but I think I've made my point. :)

No... honestly here's the problem... The Raiders theme I like. Saving Private Ryan is pretty good. Star Wars music... just kinda there... Jaws theme, not really that interesting... I do like ET however... But there's countless movies he's scored where I am just like, uh... sometimes his music is "too perfect" for me.

That like saying, "I don't like that movie, the story's just a llittle to perfect for me."
Again, isn't that what we're striving for...perfection.

I guess... I am just digging the more modern style of composers like Hans Zimmer, Klaus Badelt, Steve Jablonsky.

I disagree with most (exception being ^^^) of you. You find Danny Elfman, and have him do it. We all know JW is gonna kick the bucket soon. I mean, I love JW music, but he is getting old (in both manners). Elfman is reigning surpreme.

John Williams boring?!
Too perfect?!

Gotta add that one to the list.

I just think the John Williams has gotten too... perfect, like some say. His music isnt intrusive enough. No, music should not intrude a movie, only a little bit. His music always fits well... too well.

Remember The Terminal. Some of his best stuff, in my opinion. But it was so subtle, no remembers it.

strange, but you seem to remember it expressly for its subtley.

Because that is one of my favorite soundtracks of his- it fits so good.

You could say its because im special, and I over-analyze movies and the people who made them.
