Mpeg2 encoder for Premiere Pro 2

I've been using Adobe Media Encoder to encode my projects direct from premiere pro 2 bu the mpeg 2 always comes up with a different extension (m2t, m2v, etc)...and then I deliver my work to the people I work for and nobody is able to open it. When I worked with earlier versions of premiere, the extention was always mpeg and everybody was able to open it. . I need to export mpeg 2 so that the extension is MPEG. Is there any third party plugin to export mpeg 2 with mpeg extension? Or any other solution?

thanks

There's Canopus Procoder 2 which is very good and it works either independently or as a part of Premiere.

But I think the reason you're getting all those different files is because you didn't turn on Multiplexer for the Media Encoder. I turn the Multiplexer on the DVD option and I always get a normal MPEG file. Try it.

This is also my 100th post. Yay!

There's actualy a bunch of options I tried on encoder (dvd, mpeg2, svcd, ts, none). But I'm gonna give it a go on the multiplexer. Thanks!

Ok. Here are the option on the encoder "Mutiplexer":
Basic settings:
- Multiplexing: mpeg-2, svcd, dvd, ts, none
Bitrate and buffering details:
- Bitrate type (variable or constant)
- Max rate
- Packet size
- Packet/Pack
- Video buffer size (zero)
- Audio buffer size (4)

What exactly do I have to do to be able to export mpeg2 with mpeg extension?

For multiplexing, specify 'DVD'.

'None' puts the video in a 'm2v' file and the audio in a seperate wav file. You can rename the 'm2v' file to 'mpeg' or whatever. The content is still mpeg2 video. It just doesn't have an audio stream muxed in.

Ok, say I don't want to use Adobe Media Encoder. Is there any GOOD codec/compressor I can download to export mpeg2 directly from premiere?

Procoder 2 works as either a standalone program or a plug-in within Premiere, it's pretty good although I've never tried to export mpeg from it so I can't compare it with the Adobe Encoder.

The files that the encoder generates are the industry standard ones.

assuming that you don't mux your content, you will get the following:

.m2v this is your MPEG 2 video content
.ac3 this is Dolby Digital audio (assuming that you choose lossy compression)
.wav this is PCM audio (assuming that you choose uncompressed)
.xmpes this is a session file (not need by your clients)
.log this is a text file that provides post encoder information (also not needed by your clients)

Thanks. I installed the procoder2 and it seems like a nice tool full of options.I'm trying to use it right now but after conversion the exported file is totaly black! I can preview the original file with no problem. The problem is after conversion. And it never comes out with the mpeg extension. It always comes out with m2p, m2v, m2t, etc. I need the final file to have the mpeg extension.

No 3rd party program needed!!!!

You can render out MPEG files with the .mpg extension inside of Adobe Media Encoder. At the top of the Encoder window choose "Mpeg2". Do NOT choose "Mpeg2 - DVD". If you choose the MPEG2 DVD, then you will get all of those files that you don't want. If you just choose MPEG2, then you will get 1 file with the .mpg extension that holds all of the video and audio data.

I just did this to make triple-sure and it works just fine.
