Howdy, can anyone please recommend an inexpensive wireless lav to use with my DVX100B? Thanks!

I agree with Barry, though you will pretty quickly want to look at replacing the stock mic with a better lav. You can search the archives for details on this, but in general:

1. Countryman B6 or B3 or EMW
2. Sanken COS11
3. DPA (don't remember the model #)
4. Sennheiser MKE2

There are others, but these are widely acknowledged to be the best.

There are good, cheap alternatives to Sennheiser mics (eg Octava or Rode) - why isn´t there a good cheap wireless option out there?
Are they so difficult to make?

no - but they would be difficult to sell
there are allot of cheap chiniz stuff - you get what you pay for
there is nothing wrong to buy secend hand as well

The cheap alternative to the Sennheiser is the Azden. They offer a dual channel which is a nice unit, but in my opinion it is not a viable solution because from my experience the audio quality is poor when A/B vs. the Sennheiser.

The least expensive wireless solution that will give quality sound is the G2 kit. I would strongly recommend it versus any other wireless solution.

That being said, you can go with Azden. There are people who love their units. From my experience Azden is not good though and I wouldn't use it under any circumstance, but money talks.

That all being said, the new blue tooth wireless systems that should be coming out in the next year or so should be excellent and hopefully affordable, but when it comes to audio, as in the case with matte boxes, you never know.

The issue is the Sennheiser ARE the decent cheap alternative to good wireless (Lectrosonics). Cheap is a relative word. And it actually is quite complicated to design analog wireless with decent dynamic range. Even the Sennheiser don't perform well under a lot of stress.

As Yankee said if you wait awhile you might be able to get some bluetooth style technology wirless for "cheaper" then other digital wireless cost now. Or if you really need to spend less the $500 on wireless try ebay for some used 185 Lectros. You can probably pick one up for 300 or 400 bucks. Fixed frequency though.

Good luck

does anyone here have a sanken cos-11 setup to work with the sennheiser g2 beltpak transmitter?

and if so is this with the cos-11 with battery and phantom?

i have used the cos-11 with battery and phantom with the plug on transmitter and i'd like to know more about using this or any cos-11 with the standard beltpak transmitter.
