DLP / Projectors : Why didn't I get one earlier?

After seeing Starway Pictures's SCENE 10 from their Digital Movie projected on a massive wall in our studio...

I decided to bring an LCD projector home. It baffles me why I didn't get one earlier on. These things rock, even with a makeshift "theatre screen".

Mines is just a bed sheet strapped down with thumb tacks for now, but I'm going to get an actual theatre screen when I move to my new apartment.

Best part about it is that I get to run footage from DVXuser straight to the projector to see it on a massive scale. As if I didn't love doing it with my regular HDTV.

I can see many hours spent looking at people's DVXuser fest entries over and over on this thing.

If anyone wants to send me higher-res versions of their footage, feel free to. I'd love to sit and stare at it.

Because the friggin' bulbs are $400 each?? :) :)

Really, they rock, but we're on our second bulb (which came free), but it's going to be just about cheaper to buy a new [and improved] projector, than to invest in another bulb!:(

Wow, what kind of new and improved projector can you get for $400. Iv'e had my Panasonic 900U HD projector for about 6 months now, and I absolutly love it. HD tv and even DVD movies look fantastic, and are more like they really should be. I have a custom made (by me) :) 2.35:1 110" projector screen and DVD's actually hold up really well even this big. So my screen is basically as tall as most "big screen" tv's are wide, and I didn't pay nearly as much as I would have had I bought a 50" Plasma.
The bulbs are rated at 2000 hrs and I currently have about 400hrs on it, so I figure paying $400 every 2 years to watch huge screen movies is by far a good deal.

The one I have isn't HD ready, sadly. I am currently searching for one with all of the necessary connections.

I have a HITACHI CP-RS55. It's RGB and Analog only, sadly. But the RGB holds up pretty well from my Laptop.

I'm looking into getting one with DVI ports and all the like very soon.

And yeah, it's totally worth it, though. I can't wait to play Kingdom Hearts on it tonight. Muahahahaha.
