I'm voluntarilly staying up this late to be on DVXuser. However, I had surgery this morning so I slept all day from the anesthesia.

Well you can always play some online poker that keeps me up. Late really Late.
while sleeping on duty is a sin here, that would get me sent home really really fast, not quite willing to bet my career just yet.

Some good ol' oral surgery. Tooth stuck in the top of my mouth, won't come down by itself. I'm still in the good ol' teenage braces stage...

It's cool though because all I've eaten is ice cream.

I'll be near your neck of the woods this weekend, JDaniels. My folks live in Shreveport. Bringing their grandson for a visit. They haven't wanted to see me since the youngin was born. He's stolen the limelight.

Cool, where in town do they live?

Off of Youree Drive, in Azalea Gardens. I lived in Bossier for a while, but now, I wait for hurricanes in Lake Charles.

porn?

I heard it can keep people up for days...even weeks...... That's what I hear of course.
Here in my office, we have what is affectionately known as the "Dirty Thirty" club. A number of guys were caught sending porno through company email, clogging up the system. They were each given 30 days suspension and transferred to less desirable locales.

When I need to pull an all-nighter and get really drowsy I've found that a real extreme change of temperature makes all the difference. I stick my head under a cold faucet or blow a hot hairdryer into my face and I'm good to go for at least a couple more hours before having to do it again.

I used to work the graveyard shift at a radio station. I was a newscaster and was expected to rear in the news at the hour, on the half and when it breaks as many stations say...It was absolute hell. There would be times I would fall asleep just before the top of the hour news (I mean like 60 seconds before the we went live) and I would wake up at 20 minutes after the hour. At that point, I would realize, mortified mind you, that as I slept through the top of the hour newscast, the radio station had at least 3 minutes of absolute dead air. And, if I dwelled on it, I considered the fact that there was potentially some snoring too.

When I'm working on set I routinely work 14-17 hour days and usually don't get home till 3 AM. So I can commiserate.

I'm a big fan of repetitive annoying noises like a metronome. For some reason they spur me to think and I cant sleep for the life of me.

You mentioned you've done the standard caffeine od'ing, but have you mixed it with staying really really hydrated? Enough redbulls and eventually I'm toast. Alternate it with Gatorade or water though and I can go for days. I used to work at the airport and pulled my share of overnights manning the radio between planes. Taught myself to whittle in the mean-time. Watched alot of movies too. Good times. Kind of miss it, but then again not so much.
