Hey, bub...

Did you just completely overlook my posts, or what?

John Holmes anyone? The man was the best actor in the "industry"....

Hey PK, I agree with Pee Wee being a badass...
"Pee Wee, listen to reason!"
"Shhhhh, I'm listening to reason!"

I'm all in with Kovarova for One Flew over the cookoos nest and As Good As It Gets.

Now here is a nomination that reaks of danger:
Paul Walker in Running Scared

I dont get why people hate that movie, but he changed my view of him with that role. Then he reversed it with eight below.

Oh yea, Gary Oldman in the proffesional

And Agent Smith in V for Vendetta? (I couldnt remember his name ok?! At least I didnt use his name from the LOTR movies... what was it? Mork From Ork or something like that)

You mean Hugo Weaving?

no one else for good ole Jack? For me word 'cool' refers to a stifness ,integrity, loneliness in a charecter. Newman, Brando, McQueen, Dean, DeNiro, Pacino all have common charecter traits when they play the cool; their motivation to do something do not come from what is right or what is wrong of society believes, or from the necessities, but rather comes from a highly objective personal values... When you loook at Jack's style, he is too much of a 'pleasing everybody' type, a ladies man, a man of polarity traveling on exact opposites... He has too much of internal conflict, whereas 'coolest' dudes do not have any conflict, they buried inner conflicts years ago when they lost their innocence...

Machinist MIFUNE is a great choice btw...

What about the man that does all of his own stunts?

Nearly breaks his neck in every film?

And [almost] never fails to entertain with his playful innocence?

I nominate:

Jackie Chan

Okay... now the thread is just totally out of control!

Everyone take a deep breath... maybe take two deep breaths... okay now read the title again.

It's not overall most like-able guy, nicest guy, gee I wish I was him guy... it's coolest male lead. I'm totally down with a lot of suggestions, like the Brando stuff... Newman... of COURSE Clint... geez he's up there... Harrison Ford's OLD roles...

Let me explain why I even put Terence Hill on the list for "nobody"... throughout the flick he only identifies himself as "nobody"...

"Who are you?"

"Me? I'm nobody..."

The entire point of that flick is that Henry Fonda is an aging western hero... like a sherif that killed tons of outlaws in unbelievable gun battles... "nobody" grew up reading about this guy who was known as the sharpest, fastest gun in the west... meanwhile "nobody" (Terance) is 10x faster. Terance seeks out Bouregard (Fonda) just to try and tell him just how much he admires him and the legend. Meanwhile Bouregard is mostly just annoyed by "nobody" and tries to scare him off several times... but "nobody" understands the dilemma of Bouregard aging with this legend on his shoulders and that no matter where he goes all these men will line up non-stop to try and kill him... and "nobody" solves the dilemma in a perfect way... Terance goes from being this goofy-as-f**k guy to being the toughest, fastest, smartest guy that makes even Bouregard look like an amature... and all along he claims to be "nobody".

That's why I put him on my list.

The classic roles mentioned totally fit the same criteria... because of the goofiness of Terance Hill's roles he couldn't be at the top of the list... but man let's take a more careful look at what COOL is...

Indiana Jones grabbing his hat as the wall came down... cool. The entire original Raiders movie is the definition of cool... watch it... pay attention to how Indi acts... be that guy and you will be the coolest person on the planet.

The only reason I can't put the classics in the same context is because I don't know enough of them... North by Northwest was good... but not the Indi level of cool... maybe I should check out more Brando stuff.

Pitt in Fight Club? Yeah I guess he was kinda' cool... but I don't think a guy can show that much interest in another guy's pee-pee and still be cool either... not in the sense we're talking here... the other problem I have with Pitt in that is that he's one half of a skitzo... which also isn't all that cool.

i guess "cool" is subjective then
Well, what is your 'subjective' cool? :)
Hey Mattin, if you like one-liners you'd love 'HOMBRE': Here is the dialog before the final shootout between good-bad guy:
(Richard Boon)-Well, now. Now what do you suppose hell is gonna look like?
(Paul Newman)-We all die. It's just a question of when.

Hey Kholi,
Your cool guy is the only one smiling :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
Ever seen a cool guy smirkin innocently? Check these out:
