Just wondering if anybody out there is using the Panasonic BT LH 1700 for critical cc for TV, film projects. How does it compare to say a CRT. I know this has been asked but there does'nt seem to be any definite answers. Has anybody used it for any major projects and how does it compare. Finally has the 26 inch model noticable difference. ie if I opt for this as opposed to the 1700 can I be guaranteed of true T.V / Film colour value reproduction and accuracy. Thanks !

I'm interested as well. It's sold as a broadcast monitor with quick response time and good picture characteristics. There are lots of physical advantages to this over a 50lb plus CRT, but if it isn't color critical, then I'd like to know...

I'd be interested in others experience as well. We bought the BTLH2600 from Omega Broadcast in Austen, TX (HIGHLY recommended Panny Dealer) and it should arrive on Monday. We'll be sure to report back.

We built a new room for HD and could not afford the 10K plus for an HD CRT so we are using the 26" LCD ($4,000) which will zoom to show full HD pixel resolution and for critical color we are sending a component signal from the AJA Kona card to our old Sony 8045Q 8" CRT field monitor (seen them as low as $200 on ebay). The Sony has SMPTE C phosphors for cc and the 26" should show the detail the CRT can't. Hope it works....

Thanks Randy ! looking forward to hearing how the monitor responds in an actual production environment . I can't seem to find an overall endorsment of the BT-LH1700 or BT-LH2600 and how they compair to a CRT; maybe the BT-LH2600 is too new !!

I just got the Panasonic BT-LH1700. I have not had time to check it on my editing bay. I was intending to just use it in the field, but will try out it out for editing just to see.

I am using a SD Sony PVM20S1WU 20" CRT 16:9 monitor in my editing bay. The colors are accurate as far as I can tell. It seems to work out pretty well. I use the full space of one of the 23" cinema displays to see the HD and use the CRT to check the real world color. I thought I would need an HD monitor, but am very pleased with the results with this monitor. I think that they are rather hard to find though. I bought mine in perfect condition on Ebay for $500. and feel real fortunate

By the way, does anyone know of a good light stand mounting bracket for the Panny? I was on a shoot and the DP was using a nice bracket that flipped over so you could work with a 35mm converters real easy.

I use the panny 17" exclusively. Great solid monitor. Highly recommend. Next best thing to $$$$ CRT.

the 1700

the 1700

I bought the 17 inch monitor 2 weeks ago...

what I love about it is the Waveform, great color representation, and fairly good Gamma contrast.

but At all times it has seemed "soft" even with out my M2 adapter. I don't know why I just vistited Byns and Sawyer and it looked real crisp there.

second SD on this monitor Had lots of noise and Vertcal banding. again not a problem at the B & S one.... Grrr any Help.

and yes I've herd the Neb tech mount is great. I have bout the Porta brace Bag/hoodman for it and Love it.

The bracket I was interested in is here: http://www.vfgadgets.com/LCDmountPro.htm

I bought the porta brace, but am returning it. Because of the M2 flipped image I think I am better off using the bracket and a hard case. I have been making my own hoods from corrugated plastic and Velcro. The hoods I make can be mounted top or bottom and folds flat.

I noticed that the image was sof as well. I have not played with it yet. Maybe there is some sharpenning that can be done on one of the menus.
