I have betrayed my roots.

Yes I bought one of the new Intel Conroes (E660) from tigerdirect today.

I was a Mac guy when I could afford it, then was going to create my monster (PC) with the AMD.

But after seeing the benchmarks for the new Conroe compated to AMD and with the unavailability of the AMD AM2 5000+ (I know the 4600+ is floating out there) I went with intel.

I'm sorry.

I have joined (IMO) the dark side.

Don't feel bad. I was a PC guy and just recently ported over to the G5 family.

My current Machine comes to a total of 10k, and it's less than eight months old. This is the dark side for me. And it's pricey.

Using both systems, I'd have to say that Macs are neato... but for the price you can build a PC workhorse that'll perform the same as a G5 and get a few really useful extras (given you know how to shop for parts and build them on your own.)

i hate you now.

just kidding. a computer is a computer. if it works for the job, its a good thing. mac, pc, who gives a rats ass.

That's why people build their own PCs rather than go Mac :D

Ding, Ding, Ding we have a winner.

If I wasn't losing my job tomorrow (actually today) Macs wouldn't look so unappealing.

But yes, a computer is a computer...as long as it works.

AND IT BETTER WORK! INTEL ARE YOU LISTENING?

*shakes his fist in the air*:thumbup: (these are my fists)

The difference between a MAC user and PC User.

PC users feel no remorse for their decision to choose one over the other. Too much emotional attachment Zach. Let yourself goooooooo!!!!!

LOL

...because PC's are just boring and they don't know what they're missing out on! :) :) :)

That actually looks pretty cool Filmjunkie. Too bad you can't get more than 2 gigs of RAM though. I'd want to get atleast 5 for super fast rendering.

I'm looking at getting one of these new beasts.... With a Blu-Ray burner/drive.

Damn, 2x on the Blu Ray burning...that's some serious time if you're doing HD for a movie!

Windows XP doesn't recognize over 2 gigs, I believe...

Wow, didn't know that. That's just choice enough to go get a Mac....

Yeah, there's little tricks to make some programs (like AE) access more, but on the whole, you're SOL...

Ask Kai how nice it is to have 6.5GB in a G5, and be able to use it!

Well, that's not true, Win XP can see up to 4GB of memory, but if you go to XP64 or the upcoming vista, you wont have the limitation any longer.

I walked into a MAC store last night with my buddy (who has a MAC) and I was clownin' on their computers... I was like, I can get the same power for half the price... haha... the people in the store were kind of thrown off haha

Well, technically, it's a 4GB limit, but it's 2GB limit for the kernel and 2GB for the application. So, all applications share the 2GB space of the kernel, and get up to the remaining 2GB for use, obviously depending on how many apps you have open.
