Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Mans Chest

Just a piece of trivia. Tony Angelotti, Depp's stunt double was injured seriously during the scene where he fell while the rope spun him. His pelvis was literally split apart by the force of the spin. He was hospitalized for several weeks, but is apparently fine now.

weatherman was good. just misunderstood and looked over. i never saw mousehunt but i heard good things from people.

i just saw Pirates last night. i absolutley loved it. there were a lot of great shots, like the forementioned wheel scene. it had everything i could have asked for in a movie really. i thouroughly enjoyed it. loved the line about having no dress in the cabin (so much so that i put it in my sig), i also liked when norrington said "i can't help it if your qualifications are a little lax" and Jack just says "you smell funny". its kinda like the Pierce Brosnan line in the Matador, when the kid says "see ya wouldnt want to be ya" and Brosnan says "smell ya shouldnt have to tell ya". you don't expect adults like Depp and Brosnan to be saying kids comebacks which made it funnier to me.

just as good, if not better than the first IMO. also liked the line "why is the rum ALWAYS gone?"

9/10

saw it last night. it was a mess, pretty bad film in terms of editing, story, and dialogue. Acting wasn't all that impressive either. I loved seeing Rush at the end though.

Effects and Cinematography were great.

Cant believe that about Depps double. Thats harsh. Though the kebab shot just before that scene was funny :-P. Dident Johnny smash his leg Into the side of the Lady Washington In the first. Something like that and he Injured his knee cap. Im not sure. It was a few years ago I heard about It whilst watching the Commentary. Yeah, thats what I do at 3am when Im bored. Listen to commenties =(

I have just seen this film. I am happy to hear the old tunes. and I had been looking forward just a film like this.
the very first picture is a sea. it is digital, isn't it?
anyway, why are papers next to the heart in the coffer?... and the coffer has a really strange key...that would not really work in the real life.

saw it 2 days ago. i thought the first was ok but not worth the hype. so for the second one i didn't expect that much but was pleasantly surprised. it's a good action/adventure popcorn movie. so if you're the mood for one this is it.

only things that threw me off was some of the dialogue and acting.

As a summer time popcorn flick, I think the only sin this flick is guilty of is excess. OK, that and lack of story, BUT... there is one perfectly valid reason to shell out and sit there for 2.5 hours - Davey Jones. Holy freakin' crap! Were you all aware that every speck of Bill Nighy was digitally covered over? No physical costume. No physical makeup. 100% digital. Even his eyes! I hear he was 'doing his acting' in sensor-laden motion capture pajamas. Just a kick-ass accomplishment in digital artistry by Knoll at ILM. That and ZBrush.

(MAJOR SPOILER COMING UP NOW)

(UNDER THIS TEXT IS BIG SPOILER)

Jack Sparrow Dies! wait for the film to see. tonight at midnight for all who's going!

Jack Sparrow doesn't die - did you see the ending?

Really liked it and I'm one who hates hollywood mainstream movies like this for the most part.

The series really does have a nice and even blend of tones - it's action but not overdone with 12 minute fight scenes, a decent enough of a story to keep it moving, CGI that is well done and not overly used AND that is coupled with the fact it's beautifully shot on film and just enough humor to keep it entertaining without making it ridiculous or corny.

Frankly Pirates is a good counterpoint to Lord of the Rings/Star Wars trilogy and does some things those should have. It's not a OVERLY CGI infested dramatic series and the fact that it doesn't entirely take itself seriously is a plus and I really appreciate the lack of arrogance in the film (not trying to start a flame war with SW LOTR fanboys) but I always liked high concept storylines that have dramatic elements, but still enough humor to not make someone roll their eyes - it just adds to the story more than overly sappy dialogue and heavy doomsday scores that kind of turned me off to SW and LOTR.

Might be a good thread to start on the side - movies, dramatic and intense in concept/tone, fueled moreso by just a tiny bit of humor/lightheartedness

Pirates
Fifth Element
Moulin Rouge

haha, it would have been a lot cheaper with physical costume, and faster of course...

Would you wear that costume on some island near the equator for 12 hours a day?

The key? The KEEEYYYYY they used in their supernatural pirate movie wouldn't work in real life?

ye, not. :D or the coffer could be opened with a single stick. But I think nobody recognised this, except me :D anyway it was just a funny element

Finally got to see this movie. It was A LOT of fun. Even though I didn't understand a single word (my girlfriend was having too much fun watching the movie to translate everything) :( Can't wait to see it again.
