... it might look something like this.
http://www.teslamotors.com/
A rebel entrepreneur, a lot of money, a world-class team (it's being assembled by Lotus) and some revolutionary specs: 0-60 in 4 seconds, all-electric, 250-mile range, no oil or gas (and no dependence on foreign oil), no oil changes, no air filter, no maintenance, no gas, no filling stations, no anything. Plug it in at night, go in the morning.
The two-speed transmission might take a bit of getting used to, 0-60 happens IN FIRST GEAR... second gear takes it up to 130mph. Engine (er, "motor"?) spins at nearly 14,000 RPMs.
Operational cost is about a penny per mile (depending on what your local electric utility charges). Tires and brakes are the only maintenance items.
Won't be cheap -- initial estimates price it up there with the Dodge Viper. And it performs about like the Viper does, but (comparatively) silently and a lot more efficiently.
Most interesting... we shall see what the future brings for Tesla Motors. First units are supposed to be available for sale early next year.
