Kevin Smith VS Joel Siegel

hey all, i dont know if you heard about what Joel Siegel did at a screening of Clerks II. he got up about 40 minutes into the film and yelled "time to go! in 30 ****ing years i've never walked out of a film!" screaming mind you. now if you dont like a movie fine, get up and leave if you want, but be courteous to the other people in the theater. the other people at the screening were critics. it was very unprofessional.

if you wanna hear Smith VS. Siegel go here

dont you guys agree though that even if you don't like a film (i know a LOT of people here aren't Smith fans) its rude and unprofessional what Siegel did? he gets paid to watch movies and he disrupted OTHER critics viewing of it... that was totally unprofessional IMO.

i thought it was funny that Siegel didnt know he was talking with Smith until 10 minutes into the interview.

I couldn't agree more. If you don't like the flick, walk out. Don't be a dick about it. He totally crossed the line by doing what he did.

I don't know...look at what Kevin Smith has gotten out of it. He couldn't buy that kind of publicity and buzz.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

That was great radio. I'm torn here. Siegel was definitely out of line and unprofessional and he's a hack critic if ever there was a hack critic. Actually, he's more like a parody of a hack critic - calling him a critic at all gives him more creditibility than he deserves. However, I really dislike Kevin Smith and his sophmoric, misogynist drivel (though it wasn't women being degraded here - just animals?) and that part of me loves the fact that someone called him out in public.

In a way, there's something poetic about these two finding each other and duking it out in public. Both of them have inexplicably managed to extend their fifteen minutes of fame into solid careers.

Very true! I could only hope to have someone hate my stuff as much as people hate Kevin Smith's stuff... oh, wait... they already do, they're just not famous enough to talk about it in public.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

LMAO  Personally, I can't wait to see that "project" of yours...

I say we string up Joel Sh**hole like we did Uwe Boll. what a dip sh**. lol. he didn't realize he was talking to kevin smith tell they told him AGAIN half way through the dialog. lol. i don't think i've laughed that hard in a while. damn... that's hella funny.

but really, i agree with John. that's was good radio... lol

Joel sounds like an asshat and walking out dramatically is absurd; it sounds as if he may have some issues but Smith is a total hack. Weird he is huge and popular; but then again, so is Troma.

John, I agree about that Smith is a hack thing... i heard somewhere that clerks (the first one) was supposed to be a legit drama. lol. he said that he just kinda got lucky and people thought it was some great comedy. but on the other hand. his movies are hella funny.

Edit--- and yeah... i'm hella jealous.

i don't know what to do with kevin smith. its easy for me to say he's a terrible director when it comes to mise-en-scene... because he is. that's undeniable, especiually considering that i've heard him flat-out admit that. but he is damn funny at times... minus the fecal humor. actually, i think the stories he tells in his "evening with" series is some of his best work.

I agree. An Evening with Kevin Smith is his best. The rest of it, I just don't care for.
