sorry to start another thread about this thing guys, i would appreciate if anyone using the fs100 in the uk could post where they got it from,

i already priced it from www.creativebias.co.uk for £1,643.83 inc VAT if anyone knows anywhere cheaper even a by a £100 it would help a lot with buying other bits of kit for my business

i know through reading the site people are waiting for other solutions for recording HD from the HVX to a HDD but i need to start trading within the month due to jobs lined up, im just waiting for my credit card to arrive from the bank then its action stations.

if any fellow professionals are working with an alternative in the field the advice would be appreciated, please no comments about doing a search, i have and im still not sure on what ive read . if you have a working alternative in every day use it would be great to hear about your experience with it.

thanks in advance chaps and chapets

I got mine from Mitcorp in London for £1633 inc, so not much different. Bare in mind you will probably also want the mount kit which is around £90 on top.

yeah i hadnt thuoght about the mount kit, how are you finding it to work with? any problems/gremlins?

Initially there were a few issues, but they were cleared up quickly by Focus with a couple of Firmware releases. Make sure you have the latest release installed when you get one, currently v2.0.0.04061606.

The main issue I have at the moment is that no one has stock of the mount kits, so I'm still having to strap it to the handle to us it - not ideal.

Another thing which bothered me was the firewire cable design. A 4 pin firewire port is a delicate item at the best of times and the HVX port is no different. The supplied firewire cable sticks out too far in my opinion and made it very easy to knock and damage the port. I ordered some right angle cables from a US store which arrived today and they are a big improvement and they are much shorter too. I suggest getting a couple of these too.

Hi

My first post on this forum...

I got my FS100 and Firestore camera mount from Creative Video. Received them last week and am testing the FS100 now.

Although the FS100 unit was "built" on 26 June, it had Version 1.0 of the firmware! Have updated to the latest and looking forward to many hours of recording with it.

Cheers!

Tim

Hi Mark

They had some last week - hopefully that's still true.

It is a nice cradle with a Manfrotto ball adapter.

Best, Tim

I cannot find a picture of the FS100 camera mount anywhere (even on Focus' site). Hobi, can you post one?

firestore/cineporter

firestore/cineporter

Im watching with interest how you are all getting on with the firestore 100

I have put my name down on a list within this forum for the cineporter 320gig
[when it comes out]I will hopefully keep you posted how this works with the hvx200 and transfers for editing.
On that note of editing how are you all doing for transferring your footage to laptops or workstations what are you useing p2 genie, p2 viewer etc and hows the workflo going?

thanks for the pic. I ordered the FS100 two weeks ago from B&H but still no word when they'll deliver :(

I'm not sure if I like the idea of putting it on top of the camera. Under the camera is a better place, but that dang jimmybox is too obtrusive while hand held.

I know what you mean Pelican. I went with the Zacuto kit for full setups - universal mount, front and back rods and red plate with Noga arms for Marshall and FS100, but for hand held its not practical to have the arms on or the back plate and the Marshall would probably not get used.

I'm considering getting their Mini Mount which could easily have a tiny screw ball mount to hold the FS100 cradle at the back of the camera. Its another £175 on top of the mountain of cash already spent though!

Check out this picture (would be without the long Noga arm)

Guys Check out the Jimmy box 2 at jimmybox.com this is what you want for mounting the Fiestore FS 100!! Look for story on this in Sept. issue of studio monthly magazine Regards,Stuart
