I just bought a petroff 4x5 mb with panavision and 4x4 trays. I will be shooting with the stock and .7x wide angle lense. I'm going to buy a circular pol and a few grads and I was wondering if I can use the panny-sized grad filters with the wide without any vignetting occuring? I've been reading the forums all day today and I can't find any specific info regarding this issue. I did find a few posts that said if you use a 3x3 with a grad then the grad must be larger than 3x3. Will the panny's work? Please help.

The answer is a qualified yes. Panavision sized (4"x5.650") grads are available in "vertical" and "horizontal". You want the horizontal ones (where the grad line runs the long way - along the 5.650 inch dimension).

I am not familiar with the Petroff box, the only issue could be a limited ability to rotate the P-Sized grad but since grads are normally used across the picture horizontally, that should not be a problem.

3"x3" filters are much smaller and because of the small size grads are not available from the major makers of filters for professional film and video applications.
