the science of sleep

THIS LOOKS FREAKIN AWESOME!

I totally agree with your take on Gondry and it is gonna be sweet seeing a project of his that he wrote as well as directed, plus you can see all the different little expierments he did throughout his video career (Big hands- Everlong; Yarn animation- Walkie Talkie Man; ect.) This will be a defining film in his career.

Stepping away from film for one second I notice you are from Kalamazoo- Bell's Two Hearted Ale is the finest brew I've ever drank, if you ever run into Larry Bell, give him a big hug from me.

I am always amazed with Gondry's work, Eternal Sunshine is one of my all time favorite films; but this looks like it goes above and beyond his normal work.

I can't wait.

haha ok, I've only been to bell's like twice, but it is pretty popular.

Eternal Sunshine is without a doubt my favorite movie of all time which is why I'm totally geeking over this.

yeah i saw this trailer looks like it has great potential. love the scene where the horse comes out the pianting :D

ive seen this. the sets were great. gondry's got quite the imagination! the film's a real treat to look at. while its not as good as eternal sunshine (and it wont be anywhere near as accessible as that one either) it was still odd, funny, entertaining, and when it gets down to it, there's a nice little story there (just at times it gets a bit too buried in all the insanity). Charlotte Gainsbourg is really sweet in this. 8/10.

It's not out yet.

It just got picked up at Sundance, it'll be out soon.

Gondry is a very visual person, here's to hoping this won't be one long music video because if it is... well I'll be mad.

Spent two years researching and working on a similar script and I scrapped it after hearing about Science two years ago.

He kicked my ass. I couldn't have come close to the visual depth he's created.

I almost teared up when I saw the sequence where he's cooking and his ingredient changes all of a sudden. It's the perfect representation of dreams.

Occassionally the film felt like it could drift into that territory, but the style fits the storyline perfectly so that doesnt ever hurt it, it was obviously tailor made by and for Gondry to just go crazy. The payoff is that the main characters are both very sweet and likeable, otherwise it would have been a visual treat and not much else. Hope you guys like it!

The Science of Sleep

The Science of Sleep

Being an obsessive Michel Gondry fan, I thought I would share his new trailer with you:

http://www.apple.com/trailers/warner_independent_pictures/thescienceofsleep/

The guy is a genius. For those of you who don't know who he is, he directed the "Everlong" music video for Foo Fighters, a ton of White Stripes videos, Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind, and a ton more. Go to Best Buy and pick up his DVD if you can.

I thoroughly enjoyed eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. here's hoping his next film is just as good!

EDIT: just saw the trailer. Looks like a tim burton-esque show along the same vein as big fish. Looks interesting, def. gonna keep an eye out for this one

But does laughter nominate something for good? Maybe Best Trailer of the Year.

Check out the Golden Trailer awards.

I was waiting for someone to mention "science". I keep tabs on Gael Garcia Bernal (the main actor of this movie) , anything, and I mean everything this guy has ever been in is great.... except for that "dont tempt me" movie but penelope cruz was in it as well and thats like using a double negative.

Monty python and the holy grail. Funny as hell, but probably one of the worst movies i've ever seen.

I have to agree with you... and now I see what pto is talking about. Those guys were so incredibly creative! The whole Flying Circus DVD set is on my iPod. It is even funnier than their movies.
