Actually, I haven't been able to get the movie to load here at work. Will have to take a look when I get home :)

Perhaps someone was trying out their new compositing programs motion tracking with old CG models.....


looks really cool though...if that was real. Id like to see someone walk into a gov't office and show taht to them..i wonder what they would say or do..

That was a perfectly shaped triangle...and the B2 kinda looks like it..but has the jagged bottom

OK Kai...But the next version, even you won't be able to tell...Damn nothin gets by a pro eh? The next link will read "every one check out this UFO footage EXCEPT KIA! I thought I'd post it and wait for the first "that aint real comment, and boom! Taken out in six posts...Clearly I have work to do. I was worried about the camera shake but what zoned you in on the date stamp?
 
Ya -- the date stamp... looks as though the opacity was off or the blending mode you used affected the stamp. Was moving in and out with the shadows.

BTW -- I knew it was FAKE all along!

I'm no pro. I thought it looked great. There was something about the date stamp that did look a little fishy but I couldn't put my finger on it.

The thing that made me think it was fake was the framing of the shot. It looked like the camera operator knew the thing was coming and took the time to frame up perfectly for the fly-over. The UFO just settled into the frame too perfectly.

I think a regular guy would have pointed the camera straight up and would have followed the UFO as it passed over.

But I would kill to be able to do something this good. I enjoyed it.
 
What Kai said. :) The camera shake was done in post, the VO wasn't "real" enough, and the "test" name wasn't a huge selling point. :)

But it looked great, Mino. Can't wait to see the final.

Yeah, but in Cambodia, you'll have people running for cover. With that said, I thought it was a big pizza with absolutley no toppings! :)

And fast moving video noise that comes from post. Anyway I consider it good job. And ufos don't travel so slow, unles the pilot is drunk!
 
The biggest giveaway was the scripted commentary, sounded like you were reading it or reciting it from memory. No real shock and awe in your voice.
 
That looked exactly like something that was in a show I watched about 15 years ago, with then-current computer effects. It didn't have the bad acting VO, though. :)

The problem with the date-stamp is the font. It's the exact same problem they have in "Lost," where the Apple II from 1980 displays 12-point, 72 dpi Times New Roman for its font.
 
Good attempt! I couldnt do better.

But just my .02...... most ufo footage is more ambigous then this. The UFO crafts are always very undiscernible 'shapes' and go fast. This was so large, slow, and clear... It felt more like the arrival of the ID4 ships then a ufo sighting. You might as well have a window with waving aliens... :)

I enjoyed the clip very much.
 
Thanks guys, I am humbled...Gues I'll take the "Minos ILM" signs off the lawn now and start again. I have to advance my technical prowess ahead by 15 years and find a date stamp font. I"LL BE BACK!
 
Well, keep in mind that 15 years ago, it took hundreds of people, a room full of computers, and thousands of dollars. You did it on your own, in your house, on a computer made from off-the-shelf parts.
 
ANd...All the while being interupted by a cat that wants to play fetch the green bean 24/7...Not to mention having to take the garbage out twice and do dishes...It aint as easy as it looks I'll tell ya!
