Premiere User trying out Vegas

Quick question from a Premiere User

In premiere if I have a 10 minute clip and I want to grab 10 or 15 second portions out of it, I set my in and out points in the clip monitor and then drag it to the timeline. Simple as pie.

Is there a way to do this in Vegas 6?

I can see where I can add a full clip to the time line and slice and trim it out, but dont see a quick process to grab 10 seconds here.. 5 seconds there.. ect.

I film a lot of fashion shows and typically end up with a 30 min reel and edit them down to fast paced music video-ish videos. The system I am working on now has Vegas 6 and I am just trying to speed up my work progress..

thanks so much.

I always put the full clip on the timeline, play it and hit S for split. Drag the event edges as needed. I have a mouse button programmed to be S so I don't even use the keyboard. Very Fast. Have Ripple turned on so when you drag the event edge, it tightens up the timeline events as you go. Play, S, drag an edge. Play, S, drag an edge. Too easy. :-)
