Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Mans Chest

I really liked the movie and maybe I'm overanalyzing but...

*SPOILERS*

Does Elizabeth like Jack? I know that the obvious answer is no, and that she really loves Will but some things confused me. First of all, when the compass that shows your most wanted desires pointed to Jack I thought, well okay...but maybe it's just an infatuation with his bad ass like character.

Then, I started looking at how she acted around Jack and noticed that it was pretty flirty. Again, can be categorized as an infatuation but if it was, she did a good job of acting like it was more than that.

I understand that at the end when she made out with Jack it was to chain him to the ship, but I wonder if that was really her desire to put her insecurities of "settling" for William at rest. She looked pretty sad, and so again I summed it up to her feeling the guilt of condeming him to a gruesome death.

The way she kissed him though and the expressions on her face after the fact, made me think either she really loves Jack or the director is trying to confuse the minds of the viewers or perhaps spark some interest.

Maybe not everyone saw this, but I sure did and was greatly annoyed by it. Sure, a film is supposed to make you think and if you leave the theater thinking about it, the director has successfully done his job BUT with a movie like this I didn't expect that. Oh and one other thing..did anyone notice that she's been with Will, Jack AND Norrington? The three men that were all fighting (and not over her).

Elizabeth's left a man for another once, so I suppose I wouldn't be suprised if she did it again, moreso dissapointed.

Anyone have thoughts to share on this?

Spoiler reply

Have you ever loved someone you could have or be with. thats what you're seeing on screen, the right choice and wanted choice. I mean you can love the right and good man who lvoes you but there is that one person you always wanted but seem like they will be unable to be haved.

Also he polar opposite to her, opposites attrached because it something totally different. thats why. though she may love will with all her heart, she always will have a thing for Jack......

love life.......mmm

That's a good reply. That makes a lot of sense and I didn't think about it that way. If I get what you're saying, you mean that though she has a thing for Jack and wants him...she can't be with him because they are too different in their beliefs and ways of life? And that she does love Will, it's just an attraction to something she can't have?

If so, that makes perfect sense.

What a waste of time....this movie is boring. No story, no continuity. I fell asleep for about 20 minutes just before the swordfight on the water wheel. I wish I had slept through that also.

Well, Mr. Sleepy, this movie just wasn't for you then!:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

*Slight Spoilers*

I thought it was a non-stop ride of fun and filmmaking-cool all the way through. I've always liked pirate stories and the basic genre in general, maybe I was a pirate in a previous life or something. But yeah, I loved how this one expanded on the first in its locations. In the first movie, we had the open sea and the treasure caves, in this one we have the torturous prisons, voodoo boyou, and jungle w/ cannibals. There's just a lot of cool stuff in there, especially Davy Jones and his crew. The twist ending was phenomenal!

I can't wait for the next one, should be next year right? I heard they started filming the third like last month or something, is that right?

no continuity, your joking right? please elaborate... and also name a few movies that weren't boring to you "maverickstunts." I'm interested to know your "level" of entertainment. Oh wait your a stuntman possibly, nevermind...

I saw the movie today,
It was entertaining, that's about it. I just didn't like all the action, it did nothing to move the story along.
I understand they want the action for all the kids but it was just too much.
Hopefully the third one goes out with a bang.
Thanks

I saw this movie a few nights ago...

This was the longest trailer for a third film I have ever seen in my life.

id give it an 8/10. same major complaint though that ive had with some other movies this summer: unnecessarily long. *ahem, superman returns, *ahem.

the opening scenes were kinda shakey too. and they introduced way too many new characters. if youre gonna do that you gotta kill off some people from the first movie, otherwise its just, excessive.

im a huge johnny and kiera fan and will did well too. if any of them were off the movie would have been just another effects driven pile. this one will be the top $ maker this summer, no doubt.

Fun to watch. A bit of a Disney ride to Dorksville, but not too bad.
There were a few scenes that were just BS. They didn't need to be as silly as they were.
The Art Direction was top notch. The effects were amazing, with the exception of the "Davie Jones" crew. They were over the top and that started to drag the effects to Dorksville as well.

The first one is better.

If "dorksville" means "fantasy dream brought to life and has never been done before in movie history", then yeah, I'd definitely agree with you.

The first one was a "fantasy dream brought to life that had never been done before in movie history". The second was "that" taken over the top.

It was still fun, but it WAS over the top.

It was dangerously close to becoming another super effect movie with a weak script.

With that said, it didn't fail me like all of the other big effect movies. I did laugh and I did enjoy, but the obvious problems were there.

Agreed, mostly just the overly comic spots got to me sometimes but others they hit dead on. I do wonder how they will take the story with POTC: World's End, a darker story line it would seem.

hey Rich I got a question...

why wasnt the cracken not visible when it first attack a ship.... it justs look funny maybe the choice of shot made it off.

i dunno.

I must have some deep psychological aversion to sea life because the Davey Jones crew unsettled me. Am I the only one that was completely weirded out by how they looked?

I did like the film, but it was hella long. Let's bring these epics back down to 90-100 minutes. This is getting out of hand.

Knightley and Depp had great chemistry. It was fun watching their scenes together. Bloom was even less interesting this time around than he was in the first one. But as the do-right hero its inevitable that everyone around him will be cooler.

Only problem with shortening movies down is that it keeps truly epic storytelling from being told, plus, not every movie is three hours long. This one was two and a half hours right? Not bad for a Friday/Saturday night, but I can see where the earlier shows could be a hassle. Also, there's a lot more two or less hour trash than there are successful three hour epics. It's just a weird time in Hollywood I suppose.
