As the topic says. It doesn't nessecarilly even have to be in vegas, I'm just curious as to what the best method for doing digitized blood is.

Well, specify what kind of blood you want. Do you want blood flying all over the place, blodd on the floor or just blood running down the actor's face?

oh, bullet wounds in action. I can do practical effects after the impact but the impact itself and the blood splattering is the effect I'm looking for.

Basically a digital replacement for a squib.

For no reason other than "I thought I'd try it", I gave it a shot. No pun intended.

I created several "blood" droplets and spay in different sizes in Corel Draw. I exported the files as .png, with white as the transparent. Then I brought them into Vegas as a top layer, where I wanted the "blood" to start from. I resized them small in track motion and had them expand rapidly and fade. It sort of worked. I'll bet with a lot of trial and error, it might pass.

The only thing it doesn't have is the "shine", but I'll bet with time that could be done. Kind of neat experiment. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

Shoot some 'blood' splattering/spraying in front of a black backdrop so you can luma key it into your footage :).
