ATR55 mono to stereo?

I own the ATR55 shotgun mic and whenever I use it with my canon elura 85 and play it back on a computer or tv, it is in mono instead of stereo. Is there a way to change it to stereo? I want to use it with my panasonic dvx100a, but I don't want to buy the adaptor to use it with the dvx100a if it is in mono. Do I have to buy an adaptor for the mic to change it to stereo. Please help. I'm beginning to film a movie and I really want to use this mic.

You can record the mic to both channels on the dvx so it fills left and right. By copying the track in your nle and pasting it you can do exactly the same thing.

You can follow ncje advice.

However, If you want both audio channels to record sound from the ATR-55 you will have to change its mono mini plug to a stereo one and conect both tip and ring to the hot lead.

The ATR-55 is a Mono mic. What you want is both channels to recorded a similar mono sound. No stereo here.

This way you will also be able to monitor the audio with headphones and hear in both ears.

BTW - The ATR-55 is not a "Very Good" Mic.
