short shot with DVX wins best cinematography in France!

HI friends, just wanted to let you know that my movie " Of Genies and Goldfish" won best cinematography at the Strasbourg film festival in France. We're one of the top ten finalist. Director of Photography Andy Velasco received such coveted prize. We're very proud of our little DVX and wanted to share this with you. The movie gathered several official selections and nominations. We've been preselected by the LA short film fest and the Philadelphia documentary and fiction festival so we're still waiting for the final results. Thank you all for your support , tips, and feedback, we really appreciated.

Which girl, the one in black or the actress? The actress is my little sister and the one in black is my wife......so.....sorry not for sale..:)

Right now I'm looking for a distribuitor that will distribute my short. I have a friend who actually got his short distributed and it's only 13min long. If I don't get distribution I'll sale the DVDs by my self, I think that make sense, right?

Damn, I know something like that would happen. (The actress, your sister.) She's really pretty.

Hi everyone! Sorry for getting back to you sooner. Thanks for all your comments and compliments. I'll let my DP know about your them.

ok let's see:

1-we didn't light the blue room scene. It's was early in the morning and we got that bluish light inside the apartment. We just WB and gave it that cold look, so that my friend, is straight from the camera. we used the building without permission, it was for sale, the door was open so we just went in.

2- The girl is not indian, she's latin.

I'll see why the teaser is not working.

you may have issues with distribution if you don't have releases from all the locations and signage like "Prudential". It's a common mistake new filmmakers make.
Problem is that the owner of the building can sue the distributor and win if he wasn't paid for use of the location.

The product looks great! Congrats! I think it looks better than many films that have decent budgets.

hey george can you tell us what was on your rig? did you use filters? fill us in on the tool details and all that other mother jazz.

1-Anyone has any idea how can I get rid of the Prudential name(at least). What was I thinking!!!! I think I was too tired to realize the sign was in the shoot(I was bouncing light to the actress).

2-Any tips on how create a pod cast for this movie? I might do a web distribution for free for you guys.

Congrats congrats congrats. But now that you've won Best Director, NOW you are worrying about the Prudential sign? :huh:

You don't have to. Do you have to blur out the Chevrolet logos in every car that drives by as well? How about the tag on the jeans of all your actors? If it's publicly viewable, it can be filmed. Some restrictions on artwork and other things apply, and also if you totally trash or libel the brand, and even THEN there are lots of freedoms (like parody). But not a Prudential for sale sign in a front yard! If that were the case, filmmaking would not be possible.

FlintMI, thanks! I'm just concerned about that in case I want to distribute the film and make some money. What do you think about this? I know I should have fixed that but it's the only footage I have. Darn!
