Vegas 6 and photoshop?

Using Vegas 6, is there any way I can extract a particular clip into a set of frames so I can edit them in Photoshop? Thanks

Funny you should ask that, I'm actually doing it right now. Simply go to the tools menu, go down to scripting, and select the render image sequence. I am working with .png files, while they take longer they are not compressed like jpgs, so it's a much prefered method. After you can take those frames and import them as an image sequence which will then be treated exactly as if they were a clip.

Thanks for the info., but when I try to do this I get an error that says: Insufficient step time. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Yes, unfortunatly, for some reason Vegas does not support exporting individual frames if you are using a 23.9 timeline. What I do is simply change the properties to 29.97 timeline with fields set to none, and export the frames like that. I then change the properties back to 23.97 before importing the footage back, it will then apply the appropriate pulldown to your footage to match the timeline. I'm not sure why it is like this, but it is, but this minor workaround seems to work fine. Let me know David if you know something more about this.

Scharky:

I ONLY edit with the 23.98 timeline. I export individual frames all the time out to Combustion for FX and whatnot.

Am I missing something? I have always been able to export them...PNG or JPG.

Vegas 6 is being used.

This is cool stuff. Would you use this primarily for touch ups and such? I've never done this before. What is the primary use for this?

How do you then apply the same effect to many pictures in Photoshop?
You have to record a script using the Action tab. You can replay the same "action" to any file.

Under the Help Menu: An action is a series of commands that you play back on a single file or a batch of files.

It took a little bit of experimenting to figure it out exactly, but it saved a whole lot of time when I used it to resize and apply a filter to about 300 photos.

I'm not sure I understand, but I'll mess w/ it and see what I come up with.

Thanks, Tim.

You know I tried it using the 23.97 timeline and it worked but was really slow..so I switched it by using virtualdub to image sequence to be used in photozoom pro. But could never figure out why it was slow till you told me this reason. I wonder when version 7.0 comes out this bug will be fixed.
