Does anyone have any insight or have looked for a notebook that will allow HDV editing? Im basically looking for a 'monster' that can edit naitive HDV. I've been looking a bit, but it looks as if the best i can do is a dual core 2.16gHz and about 2GB of ram supported. The hard drive speeds though are only about 5400rpms :( I need at least 7200rpm....

i'm just asking if anyone has anything like what i'm talking about or has seen something that will do?

are u looking for PC/Mac?

If it's a PC, what size are you looking for? 14"? 15.4"? 17"? 20"?

Same goes for Mac....Macbook Pro 15 or 17?

Does price matter? You're going to have to provide more information for us to answer your questions.

hey people, see this:

and follow the river and you will get the best indie solution.. editing & capture at the same piece.. forget all the rest.. there it is the next future.. and forget the interlaced amateur cameras!

i already don't know how once i thought to shoot with those interlaced video crap.. sorry but after downloading their stuff, it's the only thing that i can share..

Well I'm assuming that price is gonna be at least 1800-2000 for the right setup. Basically what ever it costs, its gonna cost. I just want to be able to do it. I work on a custom built pc now, (with PPro 2.0) so I would like to be able to save that project, then open it up at home if I wish. I saw some groovy sony vaio for around 2k, 2.16 dual core 1gb of ram, 100gb or so etc....
I just know my conputer is 3.0ghz , 2.5mb's ram, 380 gigs of hd space, and it can handle the hdv with no 3rd party software such as cineform...
That's what I'm looking for basically

I read it all... but still alittle confused. Basically what I got out of it was that there are new processors coming out so I should wait till august or later before I start looking.... right?

Honestly... I am happy I got my computer when I did. I snagged a P4 3.2 Ghz. with the 1ghz FSB. My machine matches any of the new "Duo Core" chips, and in some cases outperforms them. I like the raw power.
