letterboxing 4:3 films for festivals

If a film is shot in regular 4:3 mode on the DVX100A, do you guys think festivals like "the look" of a 4:3 film letterboxed? That is, black bars across the top and bottom. When it's projected you'll actually get these black bars of course, just like watching a 16:9 movie on a regular TV set. You lose some picture. But do you gain a more cinematic look, and a better shot with festival programmers?

I would say shoot it 4:3 then crop it to 16:9 in post. I think the festivals look at it more of a big deal if it's 16:9, but then again unless it's a major festival, I wouldn't worry about it, but if you wanna seem more serious as a film maker I'd go with the 16:9

Or if your film is already shot letterbox I'd leave it like that
