Anyone else get the cops called on them on the 4th?

Here in Wisconsin, big fireworks are a no-no, (which i don't understand anyway), but I was filming my cousin's professional shells and two seperate cops came to see what was up after complaints ... I never hate on cops because A. my dad was a cop and B. my cousin shooting the fireworks is a cop, but this was just ridiculous, it's the 4th OF JULY!!! We believe it was a grumpy neighbor (who we informed beforehand and he assured us he wouldn't call the cops.)

Then again, we we're shooting off 3 inch shells ....:)

You don't understand why they may not want untrained people shooting off fiery explosives wherever/whenever they feel like it?

haha, they weren't THAT loud.

looking back, I should have taped the convo with the cops.

Cop: You seen any large fireworks go off around here?
8-10 seperate neighhbors: We don't know what you are talking about officer, but you might want to check around, it is the 4th of july.

haha, my cousin is definitely a pro!

We were firing them off a pier over a lake, he had his fireproof suit on and was remote firing most of the stuff!

Oh, and I don't understand it because in many other states they are legal.

but then that also reminds me when my grandpa told me a story yesterday about how they fired off dynamite (which they could pick up at the local five and dime) in the 30's!

In what state are 3" shells legal for a non-licensed show? Just asking -- I shot 3" and 6" shells professionally for 5 years and I can't imagine being able to buy or shoot them without proper licenses and permits. We stored them in fire-proof bullet-proof magazines and had to sign every shell in and out of a log book in case of inspection.

Maybe that's just Georgia?

yeah, you can buy up to 2" i think in legal states. My cousin makes his own stuff up to 4" right now, and stores them in magazines that can withstand grenade hits.

I guess i was complaining less about the legality, and more about grumpy neighbors trying to ruin a show that was a. done prefectly safe by a pro, and b. had the rest of the neighborhood there watching it.

I did get the cops called on me but they were two badass cops. They looked at all the badass fireworks we had and started lighting them off with us and one of the cops shot me in the ass with a roman candle. It was pretty ill, i have a short video of it i might post on here a bit later.

Here in louisiana we can shoot fireworks in the city limits. I fired a 1" morter last night... it was great!!! If the cronies in our state capital ever decided to ban fireworks in city limits, I believe riots would break out...fireworks are a way of life here.

We aren't even trusted with firecrackers here in MN. They like to "protect" us from such things.:(

Ah -- built to order. I was thinking he walked into a store and bought 3" shells!
Would love to see some video of the homemade shells going boom!

that sucks horse, mankato not close enough to the border to bring them in from another state? (I wouldn't see why they wouldn't sell them in Iowa, not much to blow up there.)

I'll get cracking on it!

I'm really surprised. It was a lot quieter than I expected here (SoCal) last night. Last year was a lot louder. I worried about the dog being frightened but except for one instance when some bottle rockets were going off out back, he did pretty good.

Haha. That thread title made me laugh.

A few years ago someone set off fireworks in my firends neighbourhood for Canada day. One of the big ones set a nearby house roof on fire...

Fireworks, beer and bonfires...nothing better for summer enntertainment

I always know people who have boatloads of fireworks from other states, so I never have to make the trek myself. I'm usually too busy drinking to care that much about them, to be honest.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
