Hi everyone,

I just Got a Copy of Vegas Video 4.0 and I seem To have alot of Things Down,One thing I cant Figure Out is how to Cut out People In Vegas And Put them on another backround and Still have them Moving.I was Able To do It in After Effects Easily But I want To learn how to do It in Vegas.

I Think I use the Chroma Keyer but Im not totally sure. What I Think I have to do is..

Create a Video Track for The backround Scene and Have that as my main video track and then Create tracks for the People.

Now after that I dont know what To do,so could Someone please explain it to me.If any of the Above is Wrong, please correct me.

If any of this Sounds unclear,I apologise.

Take care and I look forward to a reply.

Robbie.

Well, you need to shoot your people against a greenscreen. You can't rotoscope by bezier mask in V4.

Don't think of "main" tracks. What matters is the order from top to bottom. Your background has to be lower than your keyed elements. Higher tracks will always have priority. Think of it as looking down at the tracks -- the higher ones will appear above the lower ones.

At its most basic, take your greenscreen footage, put it on the track, and drop the greenscreen chroma key preset onto it.

But it's not actually that simple. You probably want to color-correct (secondary) the green to even it out and make it more pure. And you'll need to make adjustments in the chroma key edit box, with the sliders, etc., and you'll want to use the eyedropper to select the exact color from your footage.

And before you apply the chroma key, you're most likely going to want to drop a chroma blur (usually medium will do) on the footage.

You need to light your subject so that the lighting matches the background, not only in terms of direction, but in color temperature and overall look. Far easier to match when you're shooting than in post.

oh my...that's something I never knew before!

anchor points....

wow, this will make everything so much easier, thanks Jimerson!

the other day when you mentioned bezier mask, I thought you meant the masking tool on the VFX menu. That threw me for a loop!

They're fully keyframeable (I don't think that's really a word). You can animate a mask around a moving object and let keyframe interpolation do a lot of the work for you.

(If you check out my 24p Basics vid, any time I turn toward or away from the computer screens, there's an animated mask in play. I color-corrected the screens separately from everything else, so there are several layers at play there.)

ok cool...now my problem is moving my selection to match the video. I can't seem to grab the masked section and move it.

EDIT- I got it...nevermind
