Century Optics .6 wide angle lens problem

Hey, I think I have a small problem with my new Century optics .6 wide angle for the DVX. As soon as I received it I noticed a small smudge possibly from the coating process from the factory.

I cleaned my lens with a few kimwipes and Giottos lens cleaning solution. It now seems that my lens has almost some kind of static pull. Dust and small crap in the air seems to be drawn to the glass of the lens. It’s really driving me insane, I used compressed air several times to blow of dust and specs but it all comes back so fast.

It’s like the lens almost has some kind of static pull, has anyone had a similar problem to this and know a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Bill Turner, Century Division, Schneider Optics here.

Sorry you are having some difficulty with your new .6X wide adapter.

If there is a defect (smudge etc in the coating) that you cannot clean off, the unit should be returned for possible repair/replacement underwarranty. You should start with the dealer you purchased it from, but you are welcome to return it directly should you choose to.

There are some anti-static brushes for cleaning lenses as well as "canned air" that is billed as static free.

Having said that, dirt is the enemy of wide attachments and lenses, due to the tremendous depth of field bringing minimum focus close to the front element and making dirt and dust visible under certain conditions. Do your best to keep it clean and blow/brush off as required.

Thanks for the advice, i just had one other question. I cleaned my lens a few times in one sitting, i'm talking about five kim wipes with lens cleaning solution. Should i be worried about the lens coating getting ruined because of cleaning it several times in one sitting?

Thanks in advance.
