macbook pro+final cut pro 5.1/hvx200-can this work?

can i record in ANY mode with my new set up??? 2GB of RAM and 100GB 7200RPM drive, if ANY ONE can help me please email asap

Yes, you can record directly to the computer in most modes, though depending on who you ask, it may choke on 1080/204p and 720/60p.
 
Ken, I have the same MacBook Pro and recorded straight out of the camera at 1080i/25P (PAL version) until my internal drive filled up. Worked fine.
