The Nokia N91 Ad

Hi Pals;

Was wondering if anyone knew the new nokia ad for N91, where the tattoos fly through the body and the face?

How do u composite it (flying Tattoos) to the body using AfX?
Just tried using it with Transfer modes; but wasn't much impressive as the commercial did.

Is there any other way to achieve this effect in Afx?

By the way, this is an awesome forum {Keep up the gud work Guys}....

Haven't seen it. My best guest would be using a Displacement Map.

This nudges pixels up/down/left/right for the current layer, based on color information of another layer.

But still, keep using a Different Blending mode like Hard Light.

I would do it in 3D, animate a texture onto the exact part of the body, render only the texture with alpha, and composite it in AE.

That's exactly how I would do it.

You would model an approximation of say, an arm. Doesn't have to be perfect, or even near photorealistic. And you only need to model something the size of your animation. Then, you create and animation in After Effects, use that as a texture on your 3D oject, animate any movment of the obkect to match your background plate, and then render from your 3D app. You then take that render and apply it to the original footage.
