Possible to hook the cam up to FCP and just capture image without tape?

I tried yesterday couldnt see option. I could check the vectorscope and waveform of the incomong image... but not the way to capture.

Google search never seemed to answer my question specifically.

Try capturing using NON CONTROLLABLE DEVICE instead of FIREWIRE in the Capture Settings window. That should sort you out. Remember to select the appropriate capture input setting also.

Hope that helps

Nope, I do it a lot. In your Log & Capture window, go to the Capture Settings tab. Make sure your Device Control is set to DVCPRO HD Firewire. And make sure your Capture/Input matches the format you have the camera set to. Simple as that.

Unless you're using a PowerBook or MacBook, then it gets tricky.

Thanks also used all your advice... just wouldnt work with the control set to DVCPro FW.

Excellent appreciate you guys helping!

So tell me is this effectively capturing 4:2:2 video?

Yes, 4:2:2. Don't know why DVCPROHD Firewire is not working for you. I use it, it works for me. But, whatever works for you, use it. It always has worked for me.

Unless you're using a 24p or 30p "native" mode, those are the only two that won't work for live capture into FCP from the HVX200, according to my tests.
