Powerbook as exteral hard disk for dvx

I am trying out this method
to half close my powerbook
using it to capture footage while i am shooting outside
so far its have been a success.
anyone can give advice.
is it possible to close totally my powerbook
and leave it to capture ?

have anyone try this method before ?
 
seem like i remember apple updating the firmware on all of their laptops about 2-3 years ago that prevents you from doing anything with the laptop when it's closed, supposedly they need to be open to properly vent, so you don't burn up the computer...i know this because i used to have an ibook that i had a mouse, keyboard and monitor hooked up to, so i basically used it as a desktop (and kept it closed, because at the time if you had an external monitor hooked up it wouldn't go to sleep when you closed it). one day i updated the firmware and BLAM, i had to start keepin it cracked open or it would sleep. it sucked, but i suppose it's better than the alternative of frying your computer.
 
There is a wonderful case from Seaport for powerbooks and other computers for shooting outside. it is a bit pricey ($149.) but works perfectly.
