Hey guys,

Been on here for a while now, and a value the opinions on here. For the marketing for a film I am working on, we are testing out some graphical elements. But we have decided that we are all too close to the graphics now to judge their effectivness. So below is a graphic. I was wondering if you all would be kind enough to post your impressions. Rather than generating a design and aesthetic discussion, I am more interested in your immediate impact from looking at this image. What kind of movie would you expect this to be? What do you think the story is about? What genre do you think this might be? etc. Any comments or other notes I can't think of?

Any help is VERY MUCH appreciated.

Thanks!

At first glance, I saw this little girl (or doll) in a sea of red, the disjointed title design, paint or blood drips...that it caused me to at first mistake the Jewish Star as a Pentagram. I figured the movie is of the horror/suspense genre, like a story about a little girl enveloped by demonic supernatural beings. Then I realized the star was a Jewish star. This threw out my first notion altogether. So, frankly if I was to guess, I would say its a movie about a woman or little girl having to conceal her religion? Really, I'm not sure.

Not too bad although I would consider using a shot other than the doll unless thats your main character I would use a shot of your actress and I would also consider adding a tag line to catch people's attention more and help clear up what the plot is. A poster is a marketing tool and if it looks good but doesn't market the movie adequately then it hasn't done its job.

thanks for the comments... keep them coming! There is additional copy, a tag line ,etc. I have intentionally stripped them as I want this graphic alone to be the topic of conversation, without text altering judgement.

Thanks!

i really like the style in which you wrote out the title of the movie. QUite fancy. However, the star of david over the dolls mouth is kinda creepy. Is it a horror film?? If its a horror film, I'd say keep it. Otherwise, you may want to change the doll unless it has a strong signifigance in the movie.

My first thought is something along the lines of "The Diary of Anne Frank" in which the horror of war is kept in secret. However, analytic thinking sets in and says the Star of David is doing the squelching, not being squelched, and so I see an innocent observer of a violent crime kept quiet by Jewish dogma or restrictions. I interpret the Star as Judaism, but it could also represent Israel and/or the Israeli government. If the latter is intended, using the Israeli flag as a gag (like a piece of duct tape frequently is) would be more accurate.
