Just got my dvx100b and am already trying to submit to a competition, am I crazy?

I've got till the end of this month, is it possible? I plan to shoot edit and submit a documentary that I've been researching for a bit. It focuses on a particular person in my neighborhood.

Is two weeks realistic time to complete it for a newbie? :crybaby:

Try it worst case scenario you don't make the deadline and learn a handful about scheduling. Still even then you have a project to enter festivals/show your work and an idea to shop around. Go for the deadline. Then you can say with honor "I did this in two weeks and it's my first project."

You're right :)

Being naive might work in my favor. I'm not adverse to long hours!

Song recording I presume is a huge factor in making a docu though...I'm going to have to figure out how to use my roommate's shotgun mic and xlr inputs :o

Yardsale - you are crazy, but that's totally fine. Go in hard, give it 100% and just do it. Ulitmately, in 2 weeks time, you will know so much more about the camera, about lighting, sound, interviewing... everything, than you do right now.
That in itself is a perfect reason to do it. So then when you start your next project, it will be all that better for it.

Good luck.
