Blue Bocker Amber Sunglasses Look

I have been wearing some old, crappy blue blocker sunglasses lately and i LOVE the type of amber tint they place on everything. The greens POP and earth tones really seep to the front. Also, blue skies end up having a very SLIGHT, redish tint.

I'd say it kind of looks like the footage in "The Squid and the Whale" but a bit magnified. I could also relate it to "Amelie" but instead of green overtones, it's amber.

Does anyone know what kind of lens filter can give me that effect?

Bill Turner Schneider Optics

We developed a filter at the request of a customer to match the lenses of his Maui Jim sunglasses that I believe is the type of look you want. At this point it is only available in rectangular sizes 4x4 and larger. It is called Maui Brown.

For more info on exactly what it does you can visit our website www.schneideroptics.com and look in the filter section. You can direct specific questions to our filter designer Bob Zupka bzupka@schneideroptics.com

blue blockers rock. My father used to have a pair when they were cool and I loved the way things lookd with them on.

cut out your sunglasses lens and stick it in front of your lens...if you have the cool 80s style sunglasses with hugeass lens it'll work :p

That will also reduce the quality of the footage (plastic shades on a Leica lens), unless that's what you're going for :) that good old Lomography Holga Camera look.

That sounds like a neat filter Bill!

I agree the blue blocker effect is awesome. I have a pair of discontinued Nikon sunglasses which give an even better look since they are also polarized. The closest thing I've found is a "Moose" filter. This combines an 81a and polarizer together. Looks good. But I've found it looks best during the fall and winter when the sun's angle is lower in the sky. Plus it really brings out those fall foilage colors. Good luck.
