Hey guys and gals. I wanted to know what would be the most versatile/affordable head/sticks combo for around $300-ish. Oh and I also will have to put a rail system (if that will have any bearing on the tripod) so keep that in mind also. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look for something used.
I actually got a great bargain on a Bogen Tripod that way.

The 3221WN501 was my first tripod! :) I love it. The 3046 will better suit you if you are adding lots of weight, like rails (Light weight support and mattebox or add-on lenses) because it is more of a studio tripod than the 3221, for the same money. It has better stability properties and it won't twist during panning when there is a lot of weight.

I've been looking at these legs too. I have the 3182 legs with a 501 head, and while I love this setup (solid), I have to say that it's a pain to lug around (nature videography).

Yeah the 3182 is a bit chunky, but boy what a great tripod for the money, with a 75mm bowl. The 351MVB2K is the 2-stage sister of the 3182 with the same bowl, and I think a bit lighter.

Yah, I'm looking at getting the 351MVB2K and a 503 Head although costs about $500/New for the pair, seems like a great combo.

That is a great combo, they had to get crazy for a couple months to figure how to squeeze that much tripod into $500. But if you just wanna get more compact sticks with 75mm bowl, the 351 rules. They fixed the bad center spreaders after the first batch.
