Yeah, but Poland was playing pretty poorly and Ecuador only managed two goals on them. I didnt catch the first part of the game, so I dont know if Poland started out strong and lost it somewhere... I'm sad that I missed Germany and CR! I bet that crowd was fired UP!
The opening game was a good one, And poland started good but they didn't have passion and soul like all central and south american teams, It looks like the
Brasil spirit will win this world cup.
What kind of sport allows a tie anyway's. Or worse a scoreless tie ? You show up to duel in a match, no one scores and we all go home. No one win's, no one loses.
Good times.
And someone pick up that rock and throw it and while you're at it, hit that biotch. Or put some blades on and use a stick at least.
I was reading in the newspaper today that the Ivory Coast civil war stopped because of the World Cup.
I was shocked.
And my cousin told me that the streets in his town..he lives in europe.. are all empty and a lot of businesses shut down to watch the games.
I was watching Poland and Ecuador; Poland was playing to sloppy and WAYYYY to slow. Thats how Ecuador got their first goal with that headbutt, because Poland was just standing around watching the ball instead of chasing for it.
first games werent that bad...tomorrow is going to be crazy at my house...everyone i know comin over to watch the game on the big screen. O man....
i think we North Americans don't want it because there is not enough room for commercial breaks. if there were we would eat it up like the rest of the world.
This is funny. This could so easily turn into a thread for bashing North Americans (specifically from U.S.) for dislike/misunderstanding/ etc. of football. I think the sentiment comes from the the fact that our attitude here (U.S.) is that if it's not like we like it or want it, it's not all that important. Football is known as football all the world over--except in U.S., where we insist on using that name for a sport where the ball rarely touches the foot. U.S.ers prefer sports with lots of scoring, almost constantly, and the only sport that even closely resembles football in skill and style is basketball. But even that pales in comparison. Well, enough of that.
I'm watching Argentina v Côte d'Ivoire. I've never even heard of this country having a team but I'm rooting for them. Surely, Argentina has always been a powerhouse but gotta root for the underdog in this one. And MAN, Trinidad & Tobago v Sweden was one banging game! Sorry John. That one ended 0-0 but football fans watch the game for the fantastic skills, ball-play, near-goals, great saves, footwork, etc. Of course, we want one team to win (most of the time), but all that other stuff is what gets us going. Watch any game that features Brasil and you will see what I mean.
Well, I dont have a problem calling futbol football and pigskin ball football. over here in the states, we usually know which one we're talking about. Plus, pigskin is a US sport. If someone from elsewhere says "football" I know what they mean.
No need to bash... rogar-BigGrin(DBG)
I dont follow the teams throughout the year, I just love to watch at THIS time of year! Its all about the style and skill and heart and passion. For me.
