Well, I am getting a DVC30 soon and I just wanted to know if there is a sloution to make the DVC30 audio to sound like the VX1000 audio
here's what the VX1000 audio sounds like

Im using it for skateboarding and I just want the DVC30 to have the same Crisp audio as the VX1000 does.

So anyone can help me, I would appreciate it

heres a little more detailed explanation

Well, VX1000 is known the most in skateboarding because of the really crisp Audio

This is one of the worst in skateboarding, Audio wise. Mainly the GL2 and The GL1 have horrible audio for skateboarding.

So you can kind of tell the differnce by now Hopefully, just want my DVC30 to have the same, crisp sound as the vx1000. I don't care if you think its not good but I would just appreciate what Shotgun mics can come close to it. Thanks!

the camera is the least important link in the chain for getting good audio....they all sound bad compared to dedicated recorders.

If you ask a more specific question then we can offer a suggestion.

Cheers

Well, in skateboarding the VX1000 is known for there Audio, its just Crisp and hearing the pop of the boards, I guess it would be kinda hard to know what im talking about by getting VX1000 audio... But if you go on Skate Perception Forums all the people like the audio on the VX1000 cause it's so crisp unlike the GL2 and GL1 it sounds horrible... I dont know I just want to know some setting to make my DVC30 more of just a VX1000 audio.

All there is on the camera are adjustments for your levels. As for good audio you may want to try some different mics. Ive been using a shure pg81 that I had laying around on my 30 and to my suprise it sounds good. To get your audio to match youll probablly need to eq it.

If you're just using the on camera microphone then trying to get it to sound like any other on camera microphone is going to be tough. They all sound equally bad.

The easiest solution is to just invest in a cheap small shotgun microphone like the Rode NTG1 or 2

. This will capture the boards coming down and all that, but the pattern might be too tight.

If it is too tight an Oktava

with proper wind protection might work well for you.

The other solution might be to just get a sample of the VX & DVC in similar situations and then we can suggest some post processing.

To say that the VX has good sound though is like saying that a Smart Car

is a ferrari

... It just doesn't add up.

Ignore Yankee's sound advice (pun intended :) ) at your own peril. :costumed-smiley-047

Let's put your wireless on these skaters, not mine. :) When these guys crash, bones break. Bones heal, wireless do not. If they were willing have a ton of padding, then we will talk.

As for Dan's question; you will get the best sound from Oleg's suggestion but risk your gear. An Oktava mk12 or AT 4073a mounted on your camera is probably what you want. I do not endorse this per se but is probably what you are looking for.

Good luck.

dont see any problem stuck the mm 400 inside the pans ( inside leg),

insurance - and rate and i do it ;-)

Well if there is insurance but I am guessing the type of stuff he is talking about won't have it. :)

But in theory, yeah.

i don't believe you are going to be able to alter the audio of an oncamera microphone. its just not possible.

buy a cheap shotgun.

you can wrap the tx with the bobble stuff ( dint know the exactly English term ) , stuck it behind the skater bolls , i guess it will survive .
i ones put tx inside car which was loose from 15 meter crane and felt down to have the sound as it sounds inside when it hit the ground and all the windows flying out and the car strt to roll ( + stereo setup from the outside) - my audio 2000 survived with out the problem .
the mm -400 is very robust peace of **** and small enough not be a problem for the skater . not to mention it would survive if the skater piss in his pans in the last moment before he hit by the track :-)

LMAO Oleg. I got the mm400a but it is not industrucable, just durable as hell. Have not tried the piss test yet. I would think the acid in the piss could corrode the aluminum if the protective coating scratches off.

I wrapped a TX in foam for a snowboarder once but it was not an issue visually since his jacket hid the bulge. I guess the skaters wouldn't mind some extra bulge there but where do you stick the antenna?

Cheers
