Which Sony field monitor for HVX200?

Hi People,

I'm looking for a good field monitor that is portable (preferably LCD and not chunky) that can connect with 3 HVX cameras at the same time. Will someone suggest an option or two?

Thanks!

Skip the Sony and go with the Panasonic 17". It's way cheaper than the Sony (when the Sony is configured for HDSDI), is one piece instead of two, has less aliasing, and I may be wrong on this but I think it has up to three inputs on it. Only problem is, two of those are HDSDI, so if you want to switch among three cameras you'd need a couple of AJA component->HDSDI converters...

Thanks Barry!

Is this the AJA converter you are talking about? So, I would need to get this in addition to the Panasonic 17"? It seems quite pricey, but I wasn't sure if you were referring to this:

AJA HD10A High Definition Converter (Encoder) Analog Component HD to HD-SDI $1,549.95

Am I missing anything else? :)

Thanks!

Cables to connect to converter & field monitor?

Cables to connect to converter & field monitor?

What kind of cables would I need to buy to connect from each HVX to the (AJA converter) and then what kind of cables would I need to buy to connect from the (AJA converter) to the Panasonic 17" monitor? I'm researching and I'm getting confused with so many different options.

Please help!:undecided

One HVX would go in via analog component, the others would need to go in via HD-SDI.

Or you could get an external analog component switcher, and plug them all into that I guess...

Take a look at the BT-LH1700. It is on the website, www.panasonic.com/broadcast. It has one component analog input and two HD_SDI inputs for each of the HD-SDI you would need 1 AJA-HD10A, and a long BNC to gety you from the camera to the monitor. The Component Analog cabe might need to be exnded to go any distance, but be aware that the anlog signals do start to deteriorate over distance. So make that one your closest to the monitor.

hope this helps,

Jan

Hey Jan, Barry,

Thanks you guys! That really helps!! :D
I am shooting in China and I'm really excited about using the HVXs and the monitor! I just hope power won't be an issue... :P

I'll let you know when I receive these goodies. :)

Thanks again,

Just get a power inverter in that case, I'm pretty sure china uses a different socket.
