QT Pro 7.1; H.264 gamma fix?

I just saw that apple released QT Pro 7.1. Does anyone know if the gamma problem for the windows version was fixed?

i just found out because a page...mater of fact someone's trailer from here called up the update (which was released on may 11th...why we're just now...)

anyway not the point...i went to the quicktime discussions and there are a few people upset. that it doesn't work. i personally perused, browsed, took the scenic route...trying to find exactly what was fixed and found nothing except a list of security fixes. though on the initial page it says h.264 has been improved.

if you're on windows 64-bit and have some microsoft update it will crash the quicktime 7.1 install. you need to remove the microsoft update in order to install and run 7.1.

i'm going to wait a few days. keep watching the discussions and see. there were people who just had 32-bit XP and said 7.1 ran just fine.

it's frikn' annoying how non-responsive Apple is to windows customers. I mean how long has H.264 encoding been a viable option on a Mac? And here in windows land, it's still impossible because it looks washed out and crappy, and on top of that Quicktime crashes on a regular basis.

can't defend apple...i'd have to agree...maybe still a little angst with gates.

though i think on the h.264 you can adjust it. i've done a few clips using it and it looks fine to me. my complaint is with the component video codec...it only gives you the default setting of "medium" when all others can be set to high. matter fact out of the window of options on the other codecs with component video you only get one. that's one of things i was hoping they fixed, but until i read a list of fixes i'm not touching it 'cuz it took so friggin long for them to fix the surround sound.

Component video is an old codec that was outdated years ago. No one uses it; it's just there for legacy purposes. Besides, it may compress at a set bitrate and not be adjustable.

The h264 thing is a huge issue, though.

I use the component video codec to edit with...i can't drop h.264 into the premiere timeline even if i could i wouldn't...it's better to work uncompressed. component (YUV) uses a 2:1 compression ratio, a little faster than uncompressed, and it is one of the authoring codecs. the legacy codecs are sorenson, video, h.261, and cinepak. as i said i don't have a problem with h.264.
