transferring files to another HD

I just got a Lacie HD to move all my film's files away from the Mac HD...and reset the scratch disks to the new Lacie. But for some reason, the Capture scratch and Render Files are still going the Mac HD and not to the Lacie (even though it says so in the system settings). The other files, Audio render, autosave, thumbnail, waveform cache files are going to the Lacie though...any way I can make sure everything goes to the Lacie?

I've checked my destinations, and they seem to say the files are going to the Lacie HD. I just imported more footage, and the capture scratch stuff is still going to the Mac HD...not sure how to correct the problem, and only send the captured footage to the Lacie. Anybody have an idea what I can do?

This problem doesn't make any sense to me. The Scratch disks in System Settings have been set only to the Lacie HD (as well as Waveform/Thumbnail Cache and Auto save Vault) but the Capture Scratch files alone are still going to the Mac HD, instead of the Lacie. I must have missed something, but can't find it...if anyone has an idea here, it would greatly be appreciated.

Look, I'm pretty sure there's a path problem here , but am I totally in left field here? Nobody seems to be responding. Every day this issue comes up, when I import stuff, and then I have to drag all the capture scratch files into the Lacie from the Mac HD...alot of GB and time. Like I said, the Scratch Disks in System Settings are set to the Lacie...shouldn't that be enough? Please, anybody.

Since your project has already established that the scratch disk will be the MacHD you need to change it from the program file... is that what you are doing?

Open the project... then System Preferences... and then change it. The one thing I HATE about FCP is you MUST change the scratch disk for EVERY project if you don't want them all to be in the same folder or set of folders.

Thank you for your response! Do you mean the System Preferences in the Mac menu? I can't seem to find that in FCP...closest thing is User Preferences or System Settings (under Final Cut Pro tab) and as I said, the Scratch disk has already been set to the Lacie. Is there somewhere in the Mac System Preferences I should be changing?

Thanks Captain,

Yes I am using FCP5. I downloaded the rescue program, clicked trash, still no luck...also tried restore...confused. Any other suggestions?

Alright, thanks so much again for your support! Just to give some closure, I tried the FCP Rescue 5 again, and afterward I was able to reset my preferences to the Lacie. What I did right this time was simply that I ran the program without FCP running, instead of last time, in the middle of editing.
Thanks for your patience and resources!

Nice -- I figured it was a preference issue... but got scared when you said it didn't work.

Thanks for posting back.
