Help needed!!! I just Crossgraded to 5.1.1 Universal version, but now I can't open any of my projects. It ask to update the project, and I click yes to proceed, then CRASH! FCP closes on me. Anyone have the same problem? Any suggestions? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Ahhh!

Using Power Mac G4 1.42GHz Dual Processor, 2 GB RAM, ATI 9800 PRO 128 MB Garphics Card.

Go to your under "users" to your "Home" folder (mayber named Brian?), then Library > Preferences > Final Cut Pro User Data > and trash "Final Cut Pro 5.0 Prefs" -- then empty your trash and relaunch FCP.

I have had some weird things happening before and this is one of the first things to try.

Thanks for the insight Anthem78, but unfortunately still NO LUCK!!! I tried what you said but I am still DEAD as a DOORNAIL!

I have no solution! I can create new projects no problem, but they're empty. I can't open or update any of my previous projects without FCP CRASHING! I just don't get it.

Anyone else have any thoughts, ideas? Please help if you can. THANKS!!

How so? Do you mean media files? Media files are fine. But my sequences, timelines, titles, etc., are what I need right now...

Don't manually trash your prefs files. Get FCP Rescue 5, save yourself a ton of time and headache.

Thanks for the help everyone. But I have come up with a workaround for now.

I simply went back to FCP 5.0.4 so I could wrap up my current projects. I have both 5.1.1 and 5.0.4 installed.

When I'm ready for 5.1.1 I'll go back with brand new projects.

Wow! What a day! Almost had a heart attack or two. :furious3:
