Camera Name Suggestions for SI-1920HDVR

SiRes or SiRis (pronounced like the name Cyrus). Obviously the first uses "resolution" as a foundation and the next one uses "iris" as a foundation. Plus Cyrus is like a cool name or something.

Anyway, if it were my camera, I'd probably name it "The Black Box Of Death", but hey...

...ooh, plus you can't use anything from Mission Impossible II... that movie had more holes in it than finely aged swiss cheese.
 
Oh, I didnt know it was used in MI-II. Watched it a long time ago... (It was a horrible movie, so let me take that name back!)

Ok then, How about "Photonic",
or "Digital Photon"

Or simply "Radiance"

Silicon naming conventions

We need to settle on its branded model and product family names for our series of cinema cameras. It needs to encompass a full range of products from HD, 2K, 4K, remote heads, micros, minis, 3Ds, rig packages, etc.

Silicon HDVR Cameras
Silicon Cinema Cameras


Here are the models for Silicon-One or First-Silicon!

Silicon HDVR - could be the full camera with recorder
Silicon Mini-HD- Could be the camera head only
Silicon Micro-HD - The micro head for real tight spaces :-)

Then for next generation models
Silicon2K - A 2K Camera Family (2KDVR, HD, Mini, Micros)
Silicon4K - a 4K Camera (4KDVR, HD, Mini, Micros)

You would say

"I am shooting this feature with Silicon!" (ie. not film).
I am "Filming with Silicon",
"Shoot it with Silicon"
"Silicon is more flexible than Film".
"I want a Silicon HDVR"
"When are you going to build that Silicon4K".

We can then have our internal code name for the products such as EVE (Just like Intel code names their processor chipsets before market release such as Yonah and Duo Core. The next model family could be code named Chameleon (especially designed for its unique Coloring and uniqur 3D viewing capabilities).

Silicon Imaging =Company

Camera = SiCam ....................Cinema Product Line

Model = Eve.............................Motion picture camera
...............................................................................................................................

Mini & Micro-HD = Heads...........Versatile Video Capture Product Line

Model = Chameleon..................Tool for 3D and Enhanced Color Acqusition

Model = Snake?.........................Tool for Extreme Place Acquisition

................................................................................................................................

everyone uses & will continue to refer to digital as digital.
Future models: EVE 2K, EVE 4K....Chameleon 2K,....

It's really already done.

The vast majority of the Film community know it as the SI or Silicon Imaging.

You have already branded it.

No need for fancy nomenclatures.

The long form you use is perfect as well.

It's my favorite one.
I've had it since they first came out.
Going for that classic SI look.




See how nicely it flows!

It just rolls off the tongue.


No need to be pretentious because you've got the goods and the point of branding a name is to differentiate one's self in the marketplace.

The logos look great! Do you think we should keep with our blue theme (Silicer/Grey look pro)! First we need to release the SHD before S2K, S4K, etc...

I like your color correction work on the spoon footage. In case someone disnt see it from the other thread.....

I like dark blue, but then again, I have a soft spot for that other corporate shrine to all things silica....

Nice pic above posted there, Ari. Very nice CC (maybe grading as well?) indeed! Tell me: 2k & 4k will be upgradable from the actual 2/3" 1080p sensor?
