Anybody fairly talented in LA?

I'm usually working from a premise and then character sketches and outline. I do generally prefer writing treatments rather than actual scripts, but I don't always work that way. Admittedly, I also sometimes just have to jump into writing scenes as they pop into my head, which I know is bad practice. And really, it's not that I have cancelled ideas or projects, it's that I have this ever-growing library of ideas in various stages of completion that I will constantly switch between working on.

Sounds like you just can't focus on one idea.

=DDDDD

Still no luck with finding a talented partner?

Haven't really spent much time on it outside of this thread. You meant a writing partner, right? :P

You're right: I definitely can't focus on just one idea. But if someone else were to say, "Hey, dipshit, we're going to spend the next month or two FOCUSING ON THIS ONE IDEA," then miraculous things might happen. It's worked in the past.

Dougspice, I have a suggestion: Think of a particular film festival you would like to join. Make your goal to have something ready by it. Make that a deadline- what you need is some sort of deadline to help you define your schedules and priorities.

Writing a detailed treatment often kills the passion of writing the screenplay IMHO.

Treatment versus Screenplay are too different prose styles. One more detailed. Another less so.

Perhaps just writing up a outline will help keep the fuel burning for the desire to tell the story.

Maybe again, like someone mentioned, it's just a lack of passion for the overall story. Which is why its obviously important to be G-d up enough in the first place to go through all the work.
