Apple Laptop durability/ruggedness question for P2 acquisition purposes?

Good points HVXguy. I have a tiny problem with this. FCP does not support 720p/25p PAL right now so I would not be able to view; not for a good few months until Apple sort this in (hopefully) next upgrade.

I gather new Macbooks won't do FCP and Macbook pro's are melting and overheating according to Apple site.

Out of old iBook's, which one would do FCP okay?
 
Yes in PAL land that could be a problem.
You should see if the Panasonic P2 viewer
is compatible with PAL,
or check out Edius for the PC.
I have Edius and it does have settings
for 720p/25p
I think they have a free demo.
It's OK for basic editing.
 
Thanks Mike. On the whole I think you are right, FCP on a laptop just in case I need to view in the field. I'm sure Apple will have 720p/25p PAL in next major upgrade of FCP; hopefully; fingers crossed.
