24p to DVD. change to 30i first?

I read somewhere that dvds are 24p. when i make dvds should i export my 24p sequence 24p or should i make it 29.97 first? in the same read it said it reconverts 29.97 to 24p. does anyone know anything about this?

if you have a 29.97 video does the build turn it into a 23.98 file? is it worth going back to older projects that were shot in 24 and converted to 30 and to redo them at 24? will it save space and/or look better?
