It is all about what does not work in many shorts that get submitted to fesivals and how those shorts could have been better. I found it to be a really good read. Many pointers in there that should be followed.

Dunno but I liked it. I'm on my first short ever and it was a good, interested, informative read.

Thanks Alex, even if it was a repost.

hey if you can give me your ph# ,im planing to shoot a feature couple months from now, i have my own hvx,but i will need 2nd and 3rd for over the shoulder shots

cool read! It looks like I learned a lot of the lessons in that article in my last short... I hope my new one is received MUCH better.

Great read. I liked the phrase "guns kill good films"...I'd never heard that one before. Good advice about the bounce board also...

I think the best advice on that article was not really any advice, but a few bits of information written between the lines...

film festivals have quotas...
Judges apartment...
Festivals like to program successful films...

AGENDAS!!!! YES!!!

Having played the festival game and attended a few fests in the process -- I can say most films in the festivals are pretty lame -- well, wait. Thats not fair.

I can say that film festivals films have become a genre unto themselves, and I am not a particular fan of the film festival genre.

But damn, it is nice to get on the "program".

Best of luck !

Dean
